I just saw the repeat of the ep. where Jerry can't remeber his
girlfriend's name. We find out that it rhymes with a part of
the female anatomy, and her name is revealed at the end of the
show as Delores. What the hell does Delores rhyme with, and
who's called Delores these days anyway !
Please, please, please help - My friends and I are going crazy
PS - My opinion is that Delores is not meant to rhyme with
anything, but is used simply to confuse fools like myself

others agree?

Tim,
I see that several people have posted the answer.
Just one additional comment: I don't have a penis but i certainly
know what one is! (I never miss an opportunity to say penis!)

I'm sorry, I missed that. You never miss an opportunity to say what? ;>

I've heard other people being mystified by this. You see, most people
pronounce it "CLIT-or-is"...with the accent on the first syllable. THIS
does NOT rhyme with Delores. However, if you pronounce it with the
accent on the SECOND syllable, as in "clit-OR-is", it DOES rhyme with
Delores. Technically, it's supposed to be pronounced "CLIT-or-is" (at
least, according to the dictionary), so they sort of fudged it a little.
So, I'll assume THAT'S why a lot of people couldn't figure out what the
rhyme was. Of course...there's a lot of guys who can't figure out WHERE
the clitoris is, so maybe there's some sort of correlation---???????

Or what to do with it once they have found it...

Clitoris
Your mileage may vary, but depending on you pronounce the word "clitoris" (i.e.
where you put the emphasis) you will see what part of the female anatomy rhymes
with Delores. (rapidly making a huge comeback in popularity for names of babies)

Clitoris.

Or if they know what to do with it, is it the right time to be doing it.
Are we getting just a little bit off of the subject of Seinfeld here?

There are two ways to pronounce the word clitoris, both well documented in
most dictionaries. Webster's Ninth Collegiate is one of them.

Why do you have 7 dictionaries?
Just wondering.

Doesn't everybody? (I'm an editor, so they sort of accumulate, but I
seldom use them all--unless it's for something really important like
this.)

I ask:
Any suggestions?
I have four dictionaries in book form, and three digital ones.
I even have a 1937 Webster's Unabridged. Unfortunately, newer words
(such as television) aren't in it. One can never have enough.
