>For instance, Jerry Seinfeld is supposed to be a mediocre stand up comic but he apparently always has loads of cash and seems to drive numerous new cars. But that is not the point. The simle fact of the matter is that shows like Roseanne, Home Improvement, Grace Under Fire, and others on ABC are consitently funnier and ranked higher than the shit on NBC (and CBS for that matter). Well that is about it. If you disagree please e-mail me or post your grievances. Thank you for listening.

There is a very distinct difference between ABC and NBC that both
networks admit. NBC gears there programming towards a middle class, mature
audience, while ABC aims their programming at a younger in age, lower to
middle class audience. Since the second of the two groups is the majority
percentage of Americans watching TV, ABC tends to do better in the Nielson
ratings. However, when it comes to actual awards, NBC and CBS usually
always beat out ABC. So, the number of viewers isn't correlated with
the quality of programming. An excellent example of this is the show
"Picket Fences", which airs Friday nights at 10 on NBC. Critics and
"awards people" (for lack of the proper term) absolutely LOVE this show...
but every single week it finishes last in its time slot and doesn't do
all that well in the Nielsons. Why is this? Because the majority of
television viewers (young people, low-middle class) don't want to watch
this show. The show is at a level in which these people cannot appreciate.
So, ABC may be getting the viewers, but by far it does not have the
quaulity of programming that NBC and CBS show every year.

This has nothing to do with alt.seinfeld. It's only TV, for christsake! If
you want to watch ABC, go ahead, we're not going to stop you!!! If you don't
like Seinfeld, don't read this group! i.e. - go away you dumbas*!!
