About the bread 1.4.95 episode

I missed the first part of tonights episode (1.4.95) what was the deal with the bread?

George and his parents, on their way to dine with Susan and her folks,
stopped to get a loaf of marbled rye bread to give to the hostess.

Susan's Mom placed the loaf on the mantle and after the guests left,
realized that she forgoten to serve it with the meal. George's Dad,
however, had been miffed at what he interpreted as snootiness on the
part of Susan's parents ("The Marbled Rye wasn't good enough for
them...") so he swiped the bread on his way out.

Susan's Mom wondered where the bread had gone to (having a pretty good
idea that their guests had taken it back), so George decided to buy a
similar loaf, sneak it back into Susan's parents' house (hence getting
Kramer to give them a ride in the hansom), put it somewhere in the
kitchen, and wait for it to be discovered. "Oh, look, here's the bread
George's folks brought."

But it had to be a loaf from a particular bakery, hence Jerry's mugging
the old dear who had purchased the last loaf of same.
