Howdy. I searched on Alta Vista and Deja News for this info, but didn't
come up with anything.

Does Jason Alexander voice Louie The Lizard in the Budweiser commercials?
If not, they sure ripped him off...

Alexander does not provide the voice of Louie.

And I'm surprised Budweiser hasn't been sued yet for adopting the George
Costanza character, albeit with a different name and species, without
permission.

Actually, that voice has been utilized in early bugs bunny cartoons so it
doesn't particularly belong to or was first used in the Geaorge Costanza bit.

The inflection, sure, but the character was lifted directly from
"Seinfeld".

If you've seen the show and you've seen the commercials, then the
similarities should be obvious.

I have seen both, and I'll tell you, the George Costanza character isn't original
either.

Originally, no. Costanza was a Woody Allen ripoff. After the first
season, he was absolutely a unique character.

Until Louie the lizard came along, that is.

BTW, can you guess what George Costanza's middle name was?
Take a wild guess, I'll bet you're right.

Interesting. There was a radio commercial on a month or two back (don't
remember for what product) that parodied the Bud Lizards, and for the Louie
character, they used a Woody Allen impression rather than a Jason Alexander
/ George Costanza impression.

The Frank character, however, had an almost identical voice to the real one,
and Bud must have threatened legal action, because the next time I heard the
commercial, a couple of weeks later, the voices had been replaced with
generic surfer-dude-type voices, completely destroying the parody (not that
it was very good to begin with). I didn't hear the commercial again after
that.

Very similar to what happened in that TV commercial for that fast food
restaurant (again, don't remember which one -- so much for brand recognition
as a result of these spots...), where they had to replace the Alec Guinness
impression saying "Use the Force, Duke" with a generic surfer dude going,
"Use the Force, dude."

Weird that these companies seem to back down so quickly in the face of
lawsuits over these parodies. What ever happened to Fair Use? And why are
the celebrity impressions always replaced with surfer dudes? ;^>

Louie and George are sometimes alike, when they are stressed and
whiny. However, when they get inspired, their behaviors are
different. Louie gets hyper; George gets dramatic.

Based on what I've observed anyway.
