This guy looks like Eugene Levy. The strange thing is he's older than
Eugene Levy and yet he kind of sings songs that are definitely in hard
rockin' fashion, with lots of distorted guitar. The contrast between
this guy's dorky image and the music he plays is interesting to me.

They could have had him on as a musical guest on SCTV at the
time............he could have been Donnie Bittman. Bobby and Skip's
cousin. And he did have a song that was getting airplay on the radio
a lot at the time. "Ah! Leah!". I heard on the Classic Rock station
recently. I am almost embarassed to say I actually like the song and
actually don't think his songs are that bad......but he definitely
looks more dorky than your average rock n' roller.

Donnie Iris, if memory serves, was a member of Wild Cherry, who was
responsible for one of the worst songs of the disco era (and there
were a lot of terrible songs), "Play That Funky Music", which was a
song by white guys who were trying to sound like black guys singing a
song about how it was cool for white boys to dance or something.

You've got to love the picture with the guy on the right sucking in his gut
so he can wear his tight pants. SCTV could do something with that, too.

Ah! Leah! has always been one of my all-time favorites pop tunes.
Great delivery! The LP this song was on (Back On The Streets) also
contained a lot of interesting cuts. The fact he looked like Eugene
Levy's illegitimate half brother undoubtedly didn't help his career,
sex appeal-wise. The yellow suit didn't help either, but a great song
done well live (which was rare in this time period).

It probably didn't help Gino Vanelli's career either when Eugene did
an impersonation where he turned into the Wolfman as he sang.

Donnie really looks like Eugene in this music video here........Can we
even be sure anymore that Eugene and Donnie aren't the same
person? :)

He turn's into the werewolf, but ends up in a somewhat cheesy gorilla
costume. And I still exist that his exit is a spoof of this classic
bigfoot caught of film footage of the time, especially when he looks
back at the camera.
