I just saw a comedy show on the Comedy Channel in Canada called
Bizzare. Does anything know anything about this show? I recognized
one of the women from Royal Canadian Airfarce the guy from Super Dave
and Babbu from Seinfeld. I'm sure it was a canadian show.

You must be young! Bizarre was a ctv show in the 70's, hosted by John
Byner ( not sure of spelling ). Seems to me it was on for a few seasons, it
had it's moments, but I never thought of it as a classic. drw

I'm pretty sure it made it to the pilot stage on USTV, though I was
eight and in Buffalo at the time, so I guess it could have been
from Toronto and my memory has failed again.

I also seem to recall Richard Dawson having something to do with it.

Dawson was the original host of the program when the pilot was done.
It aired late one Friday night on ABC back in the late 1970s as a
possible competitor to NBC's SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE.

The show was eventually picked up by Showtime in the 1980s, where it
aired for a few years. It was probably best known for having Super
Dave and for a wide variety of dirty jokes and semi-clad women. It
wasn't really that great of a show, but it lasted a long time on
Showtime. Eventually reedited and cleaned-up episodes of the series
was shown in syndication for a time in the mid 1980s.

Yep, and it's still shown up here in Canada.

A good example is in one of the re-occurring bits where a scene would
be done entirely in mime except for dialogue that was printed on the
player's T-Shirts, which would then be removed for the next bit of
dialogue, like a silent movie card. One version was shot head-on
(boobies aglow!), and edited in for US cable, the other was shot over
the shoulder (bare shoulders, oh my) and shown on the Canadian CTV
network broadcast which was shown in prime time. So yeah, the
"unexpurgated" episodes, which are the ones that are now *out* of
syndication, would be rare to someone who collected that sort of thing.

Though the mind reels at someone who'd want a mess o' Bizzarre, in my
humble et cetra..
