Everyone talks about how beautiful and talented Madame O'Hara is, (AND SHE IS),
but I think Andrea is beautiful too. If anything, you gotta admit Andrea has a
good body. (grrrrr) Her Bell jingles my rock anytime. Two babes on SCTV!
That's more than most shows have. Excluding Baywatch of course...

err, I might have put it another way, but, you're right.. More than
just looks, though. She's one of the most delightful, charming women
I know of.
BTW, love that Solid Gold - 'That's the kind of show that'll sit ya

Her eyes are really beautiful. Take a gander sometime, and you'll see what I mean.

I'll have to agree. I've always had a sort of kinky desire for Mrs Prickley,
don't ask me why.

M'kay. If you want more sensual kicks out of Ms. Martin, try to find her
collaboration with Catherine in the short film "PMS" that appeared on
Letterman in the late 80's. There is a funny scene with her in lingerie
and, um, heat.

OmiGod, I got "PMS" in a tape trade about 2 years ago. Never watched it.

It's a good thing?

You know, even though Andrea Martin looks Jewish, I always just assumed she was
Christian. Because her family heritage goes back to Armenia in the old Ottoman
Empire. My history teacher told me that Armenians tended to be Christian. They
got massacred in the 1910's by the Ottomans similarly to the Jews that got it
in the Holocaust a little later. I think Cher's ancestry goes back to Armenia
as well, but don't quote me on that.

Edith Prickley seems to be good-natured and sex-positive.

Actually I always thought she WAS Jewish. Something about the face, skin, beak.
Not sure, but I've just been assuming it for years.

"I have Sephardic looks, which are...well, they're interesting,
but..."--Libby Wolfson to Robert Wellesley, on "You"

I guess I thought Andrea Martin was Jewish too.

Yes it does. Either Andrea or Cher's original Armenian surname is
"Sarkasian." I can't remember who. Andrea talked about this when she was
on Martin Short's day-time talk show three or four years ago. Andrea said
(although I had noticed this already myself) that all Armenian surnames
end in "ian" or "yan."

I've always been fascinated by Armenian surnames; they sound like the
names of alien races. I went to a site of Armenian given names and
surnames a year or two ago to see what most closely matched my real name:
my Armenian name would be Mikael Morsofian.

Ah--here we go--the IMDB:

Andrea Martin is of Armenian descent--her grandfather's last name was
Papazian when he immigrated in the early 1900s from Ottoman Turkey. When
he settled his family in Maine, he changed the last name from Papazian to
Martin.

I guess that means Cher is Sarkasian.

IMDB again:

Cherilyn Sarkisian LaPierre...

Her father was Armenian.

a long time ago, *mad* magazine had a purported letter from a man in
montana, who said his wanted his son to see a black person, what
should he do? they replied, 'ease him into it. first show him a
jewish person.'
