The last time I saw one of the Alex Trebel game show sketches he said
"Tell them what they've won, Johnny Ola." And then last night *The
Godfather Part II* was on TV and there was a character named Johnny Ola.

The game show announcer was Johnny Olsen. There really was a Johnny
Olson that did game show announcing in the 70s and 80s (for all I know,
he's still around).

Johnny Olson was the famous announcer for Bob Barker on The Price is
Right. He died several years ago and was replaced by a guy who sounds
just like him!

Come on down!!! Yeah, Johnny Olsen was one of the greats. Still I've
gotta belive the Godfather reference was intentional. That might have
been a funny moment in the Godfather episode, having Johnny Olsen in
place of Johnny Ola. I've always wished they had brought back Ramis in
that show to play Moe Green and finally cement the connection between
the two characters. There's no way that name was an accident - both
Moes look exact

I kept waiting for that too--but the closest they ever got was when the
people who kidnapped Moe Green called with their demands and you hear
someone (presumably not Harold Ramis) being tortured in the background
over the phone.

Didn't the Moe Green in *The Godfather* have much shorter hair?

They do have very distinctive voices.

The sketch you're referring to is from Episode 29 (Season 2, Show 3). It
is actually Ramis' voice. This is the last show Ramis did with SCTV
before he left. He returned a few seasons later to guest in the role of
Crazy Legs.

Actually, the show in the second season is the one where Moe Green is
kidnapped, and that was Harold Ramis' last appearance as a regular. In the
third season sketch, Guy Cabbalero is on the phone with the Leutonians and you
hear Moe screaming in the background. Different episode altogether. When Ramis
did a guest shot in '83 I was disappointed that they never wrapped up that
loose end. He could have been recued and then kidnapped again.
