My sister and I have been watching some SCTV episodes this evening, and an
episode of Monster Chiller Horror Theater came on. (3D House of Stewartess
episode)

Jocelyn, made the comment:

"Remember when we were young and first watching SCTV, and how we would roll on
the floor laughing at these Monster Chiller Horror: Dr. Tongue episodes!"

Then I responded with:

"Yes, in fact, I believe the very first skecth that got us into SCTV was "Dr.
Tongues 3D House of Pancakes". I can remember John Candy throwing the pancakes
at the camera, as their 3D special effect. Whatever happened to that episode?
Do we have that in our SCTV collections?"

Jocelyn," You know what, I barely remember that Dr. Tongue episode. So perhaps
we were watching a 3D House of (whatever), but as a child we may have combined
that 3D House of Horror sketch with another sketch, as well. Thus, making us
think (in our memory) that it was about pancakes. Let's check the SCTV Guide to
see if it is mentioned."

So we went to the SCTV Guide, and the "Dr. Tongue's 3D House of Pancakes"
episode was not mentioned. So I did another search on Google.com and came up
with 3 sites, all bulletine boards, that make a reference to Dr. Tongue's 3D
House of Pancakes (IE: hilarious episode! One ofr my favorite characters! Etc.)

So why is it that this one episode of Dr. Tongue seem to be something of a rare
sketch? I know I'm not going crazy because I told Jocelyn that I can see us
watching it (at our cousin's over X-mas Holiday. Somewhere around the age of 7
or 8 yrs. old) and that being our first exposure to SCTV.

Does this sketch exhist, and if so, what season was it aired?

Have a wonderful day everyone! =)

Crystal, that sketch is in show #95. I have #'s 94 and 96 on tape, but I'm
missing 95. It also includes Farm Film Blow-Up w/Brooke Shields (a classic
Catherine impression), Ben Hur and Bill Needle's Shoot for the Stars w/Rupert
Holmes ("Boozehound!") and Chuck Mangione ("You don't come on a national
television show dressed like a pimp!").

As for other 3D Houses - Slave Chicks, Stewardesses, Beef, Wax, Cats and
Representatives. Others?

Maybe it was never more than a trailer? I remember the line about the
syrup, with the 3-D effect, of course.

As for others, let's not forget my favourite, Tip O'Neil's 3-D House of
Representatives; "Now, in order for this bill to become law, you must SIGN
THE BILL!" (oo-oop, oo-oo; oo-oop, oo-oo - as he brandishes a pen at the
President.)

That is very interesting because the other sketches you mention that are on
episode #95, my sister and I have! But there isn't Dr. Tongues 3D House of
Pancakes with that episode we have. =(

After your much appreciated help, my sister now believes that we may have the
"NBC Later" version of episode #95, and that the 3D House of Pancakes sketch
was cut when it was re-aired.

Bummer to know this because we haven't seen this sketch in AGES!!! Thank you
again for your help! =)

It wasn't in 3-D but Dr. Tongue and Bruno were in the re-make of
Midnight Cowboy.

Oh, but it WAS in 3-D! I particularly remember the two of them with a pot
of stew, and when they mentioned how chunky it was, they did the 3-D effect
with a piece of meat on a fork. Actually bumped the camera with it, leaving
a smear of gravy on the lens.

The episode numbers that bdemain was talking about correspond to the
original episodes which are documented in the episode guide at
sctvguide.ca. The episodes you have are syndicated episodes and have
very little to do with the original episodes.

You can read more on the syndication page at www.sctvguide.ca
