I bet one of the SCTVers could've done a great Cajun character:
"Dat dey be da ting to did...I GAHR-OHN-TEEE...."

I used to love to watch him cook.

Somewhere in my audio collection I have an audiocassette of Justin
Wilson just telling stories. He was a great storyteller.

He kind of looks like Joe Flaherty there. Joe could have done a good
impression of him.

I like the way he calls it "shicken" and "sauseige".

There's another clip of him on YouTube and he greets the viewer by
saying "How Y'all Are?"

I think this is the one you meant. (see link below) The way this man
talks is so interesting...especially the way he gets the wrong past
tense of things. Its a great 'improv accent' to practice, because of
the interesting dialect and quaint colloquialisms.

I've never seen these before! Presuming they ran sometime before I got
cable in 2001. How long ago did these appear on TV? I take it by the
comments on the YouTube page Justin Wilson has since passed away.

I know he did some TV ads for some food product in the 80's or 90's,
because I remember his signature line "I gaaaaronnnteee it." Might
have been for something like Cajun Doritos or something like that. He
had a cooking show on PBS on Saturdays for years. I used to like when
he would work with wine, and he would pour wine into his simmering pot
of food, then would take a huge swig of it. He died in 2001. I've
got a couple of his cookbooks.

Looking at his biography I see he once appeared on the Ed Sullivan
show.

The product Justin Wilson did commercials for in the 80s was Ruffles
Potato Chips. I know because I have one of his commercials on one of
my old VHS tapes from 1987.
