'Songs about Texas' was directed by Shiri “Liz Parker” Appleby.

The story takes Liz, Maria, Michael, and Max on a desert voyage to visit
Arizona, a faith healer. Liz and Maria because they think the faith healer
could help Mimi, Maria's mom. Max and Michael because they think the faith
healer could be an alien.

The faith healer is a fraud, but the show doesn’t miss an opportunity
reveal that she’s also an indigenous woman sick of seeing “rednecks vote to
strip my people of our land, our rights, and our humanity”.

Max’s interaction with the faith healer makes him wonder if he could learn
to harness his healing power — he’s aware of all the people he’s seen die
during his time on the force. “You’re the only one I saved,” he tells Liz.

But there’s Rosa to discuss first. “I’m not angry at you for that,” Liz
says, after all the times she’s sworn she never wants to see him again
after what he did to Rosa.

I understand that a full month has passed since the last episode (which
ended in Liz telling Max that they weren’t meant to be together) and that
watching Max miss his own sister in that time must have softened Liz’s
resolve.

this moment comes after Liz gives voice to the fact that Max’s decade-long
obsession with her is a little unsettling, because it suggests he’s in love
with a concept of her rather than the real person.

“I don’t know what to do with the way that you feel about me,” she tells
him. But Max swears that he sees her fully, and believes in her as she is
now. Liz grabs him and kisses him.

Michael and Maria kiss (a throwback to the original series). Maria swears
Michael to secrecy about the whole thing, not knowing that he is in fact
something of an expert in keeping secrets

Deputy Cam take her investigation straight to Alex. But she’s not ready to
just throw Max under the bus, especially now that Max is a suspect — thanks
to Noah — in the disappearance of Isobel.

With a little help from Kyle, they figure out that Rosa’s was not the only
body that was found bearing the alien handprint; there are at least 13
others, all of which were covered up. Their autopsies were all signed by a
nonexistent person named “Dr. Holden". The big reveal here is that Holden
also signed Jim Valenti’s death records, but the most important moment from
this storyline is that Cam figured Max was some kind of a wizard, and is
stunned to realize he is instead an alien.

Something I've meant to mention before, but in past episodes, Liz repeatedly
mentions Rosa's death, but not that of the other two girls at the same time.

Noah finally gets some answers, and sees Isobel inside of her glowing egg,
but surprisingly does not seem confused or freaked out. He calls off his
missing-persons case and plays into the cover story about rehab, so … what
is his endgame?

And apparently, Michael is bisexual - Alex and Maria.

Was in a hurry and left out a few things --

The group found a flyer advertising the faith healer. The logo at
the top included the symbol Max has tattooed on his back.

After they discovered the woman was a fraud, they went to a bar for
drinks. Maria started singing "You Learn" with the band, and dragged Max up
to help some (she actually has a better voice that Majandra Delfino - the
original Maria).

Later they are all outside, in pairs. Max and Liz rent two motel
rooms and take one each, but neither can sleep and go outside again.

Michael and Maria end up walking in the desert and kind of get lost.
Michael kisses Maria, she kisses him back and they end up having sex on a
blanket on the ground.

Max goes back to the faith healer to try to find out about the
symbol. her mother (I presume) tells Max there was a healer in her village
(didn't say if her hand turned red) but she died 25 years ago (when they
trio came out of the pods.) The mother said she was disappointed in Max.
