Watched the pilot episode. Wasn't as bad as some of the reviewers
made it out to be.
First - the familiar stuff....
Liz (Ortecho not Parker), Max, Isobel, Michael, Kyle, Maria, Liz's
dad, the Crash Down Café. Max still has healing powers. Liz got shot and
Max had to heal her. Max's handprint is on her upper chest.
New stuff....
Kyle's sheriff dad is now his sheriff mother. Max is a deputy
sheriff. Michael has a boyfriend. Michael has control over his powers. Not
sure about Isobel's powers. Instead of Tabasco sauce, they drink fingernail
polish remover, aka acetone. Max had to drink it to recover from healing
Liz's gunshot wound. Liz was shot because someone hates the Ortechos because
of Rosa.
Liz had an older sister, Rosa, who died and took two others while
driving on drugs. Liz returns after ten years in Denver, and she and her dad
are still hated for what Rosa did (the dad, BTW, is an undocumented
immigrant from Mexico) .
Liz knows she was shot, Max takes her out in the desert to show her
the three glowing pods they came out of. She swears she will keep their
secret. Isobel and Michael don't trust her.
Only 3 actors I recognized - 'Liz' - Jeanine Mason ( Grey's
Anatomy), 'Max' -Nathan Parsons (The Originals), and 'Kyle'- Michael Trevino
(The Vampire Diaries). Don't know any of the actors in the other roles, with
one exception (see below).
So far don't really dislike any of the actors, but it's obvious the
new Liz is not Shiri Appleby, and the new Isobel is not Katherine Heigl.
Going through the cast on IMDb I see -- Shiri Appleby directed the
9th episode - Songs About Texas, so I presume she put her stamp of approval
on the reboot.
Claudia Black is in the same episode as Ann Evans (Max and Isobel's
adoptive mother?).
This first season is only 13 episodes long (so far).
