hello,

i was watching the pilot on the rockford files on netflix and in the
opening scene, i noticed that a passenger on the bus (sitting alone on
the rear bench seat, looks an awful lot like noah berry jr who would
go onto play rocky in the series. i'm wondering if anyone else has
noticed this or can confirm this sighting?

thanks,

a rockord fan

On another note, isn't it strange that the man sitting in the back seat of
the bus (a GMC)looks just like Noah Beery? (3:29) Most notably in the
wardrobe he is wearing in these shots, note the hat. He is kept "in shadow"
so that the focus stays on the guest star. But looking at him there and also
as he gets off the bus at the beach (the guy with the fishing gear,
interesting) he passes so quickly that the eye picks him up as Rocky. Of
course the actor playing Rocky in this pilot episode (Robert Donley) is
nothing like our beloved Pidge--Noah Beery's nickname,

I'm guessing it probably is Beery; too lazy to play the ep just now to look myself. There are some Oklahoma/Will Rogers persona (NB,Jr as the later Rocky deliberately mimics in dress and manner Garner's fellow Oklahoma hero WR, I believe) things re TRF. In "Tall Woman..." it's Ed Harris as an uncredited gravedigger in a beginning scene. I'm convinced the then prominent Paul Stewart (old-time movie director, "Buddy..." in a notable David Chase TRF ep satirizing Hammett--remember?) is the last Red Cap spun around in the Chicago Train terminal scene in "North by Northwest" but can't get any Hitchcock scholars I occasionally talk with to agree (or, really, disagree) even tho we've frozen the frame and, not to get into the particulars, a case can be made; but people always trot out "common sense" logic--the guy was already well-employed, there are countless extras around so why pick a star, etc. But there are larks like prominent actors "sitting in" for a cameo that happen on sets. Inside joke stuff among pals. Of course, all such is idle speculation. But what the hell, observation is fun.
