The character tailing Harry was played by actor named Michael McGuire: among
roles he has played was the professor on very first episode of "Cheers" who
returned to his wife rather than marry fiancee Diane Chambers. The title
character, Gertrude, was played by Julie Sommars, who played a recurring
character on "Matlock". Her character had a brother who was played by the
actor Les Lannom, who later played the character Lester Hodges on three or
four comedic episodes of Harry O.
