A convicted restaurant scammer’s bogus tooth-damage claims have earned
him a year’s worth of jailhouse dining privileges - redeemable if he
gets in trouble again in the next three years.

Tod Schaffer, 42, of Brookline also was ordered to serve up to 100
hours of community service after pleading guilty last week to
defrauding 10 restaurants out of more than $36,000.

Schaffer submitted 21 false claims between November 2002 and May 2006
stating he damaged his front tooth after biting into rocks or plastic
while eating at several chains, including T.G.I. Friday’s and Pizzeria
Uno, a spokesman for Attorney General Martha Coakley said. He was
ordered to pay restitution and stay away from the restaurants he
scammed. Schaffer’s prison sentence was suspended, with three years
probation.

Schaffer could not be reached for comment. Insurance investigators
said Schaffer actually injured his tooth back in 2002 on a piece of
plastic in his salad.

What, is the use of silverfish now considered passé? I wonder if this
dude tried to pocket the cutlery, too? There's all kinds out
there,.......

Brian,

Maybe if Schaffer had gotten a free wig at T.G.I. Friday's, he'd have
shaped up.
