At the time of the show, the going rate for a "Picture" car was $10.00 a day.
They used mine once, in Lions, Tigers' Monkeys and Dogs. Bill Wiard (Rockford
Director) his red 67 Jag was seen in lots of shots. It cut down on expenses.
Paying someone off the street could also create a liability for the
show/studio. So, Gloria's Vega got to be a "Star" quite often. Keep your eyes
peeled for Bill's Red Jag. At scenes at the Cove, it would be parked over by
the Sandcastle.

Very interesting. It just looks like in many of the shots, they
deliberately tried to "showcase" the car rather than just kind of have it in
the background...almost like it was some sort of inside joke. Thanks for
more trivia!

Hmmm, "older" Rockford... Do we still get to see him in a car chase? Jim
always loved driving, so maybe some quality wheel time will sway him. Heck,
he can even borrow my Acura NSX for the shoot if he promises not to send it
over a canyon.
Also, in the series, he was on camera at least 80% of the time. I haven't
seen all of the RF movies, but in "If it Bleeds...", poor Jimbo seemed to
have too little dialogue and Rita Moreno (bless her heart)never shut up.
Don
Rita got me into the Emmy Awards the year Rockford won. She was my "date".
So I can't say anything bad about her, but you're right...the last one could
have used more Jim and less everybody. The new one has plenty of Rockford, yes
the Firebird is there.
