Look at this description:

Maverick's reluctance to sell his ranch, the Lazy Ace, is the
major stumbling block to bringing the railroad into Sweetwater
but he suspects that the railroad representatives may not be
who they seem.

Encore Westerns describes "Anything for a Friend" thusly, but it's
actually "Welcome to Sweetwater".

TV.com has the following descriptions of the two episodes you mentioned.
Have you watched Anything for a Friend, and if so which of the two
descriptions below does it match? I have recorded all of the episodes Encore
has aired but haven't had the opportunity to watch any of them yet

It certainly appears Encore is missing an episode but don't understand why
as they have all of the rest of the episodes.

Starting on New Years Eve Encore Westerns is doing a marathon that will last
through Jan 3. The 3 shows are Have Gun Will Travel, Gunsmoke and The
Virginian. All 3 start with episode 1.
Welcome to Sweetwater

Maverick's reluctance to sell his ranch, the Lazy Ace, is the major
stumbling block to bringing the railroad into Sweetwater but he suspects
that the railroad representatives may not be who they seem.

Anything for a Friend
A barn-raising celebration at Maverick's ranch helps him and Tom Guthrie
conceal Billy the Kid from a posse led by a bloodthirsty U.S. Marshal.

I watched "Anything for a Friend" on Encore Westerns the last time it came
up in rotation. Yes, that episode features the barn raising and Billy the
Kid, who strangely hadn't gotten any older than when Bret met him in 1957
(played by "Kookie"!) and again in 1959 (played by Joel Grey).

Amazingly, Bret meets him AGAIN in "The Not So Magnificent Six", even
referring to him as William Bonney, recast since earlier in the season
must have confused him.

The writers of "Bret Maverick" were taking real liberties, given that he's
assumed to be at least 10 years dead. Isn't it the 1890s?

I posted a question on the Starz Web forum, so we'll see if it attracts
anybody's attention in programming.

I haven't seen that since NBC aired it so I don't recall.

This is correct.

I e-mailed Starz months ago and never got a reply. I never really expected
to, but I was hoping they might check into it and finally air it but so far
no luck.

It's got to be a contract violation. Maybe we should contact the distributor.

Once again, "Welcome to Sweetwater" (the episode whose description is
quoted above) was missing from the Encore Westerns rotation from Saturday
morning.

"Anything for a Friend" aired.

I checked the message I posted on the Starz! Community Web board. There
was no followup from the scheduling department. Anybody know anyone at
Warner Brothers?
