Alternate title #2 "The Golden Age bites the dust."
I'm having more computer problems. I seem to have more than my share of
them, and now one has come back to haunt me. For the longest time, Quicktime
movies were ridiculously choppy on my computer. Then I thought it had been
fixed, until last night... when the framerates were back to their old
habits. And so they remain, after formatting the hard drive. Twice.
It wouldn't be so bad, except that it's part of my daily routine to watch
every single PRIME DIRECTIVES trailer three or four times a day.
Brandon was right all along. My computer is really behind the times. (I'm
very glad I live next door to a doctor, because I'd very much like to have a
heart attack right now.) It wouldn't take much to convince me to bring a
sledgehammer down on the mini-tower...

I found a solution. A really dumb, stupid solution. Everytime I think of it,
I bury my face in my hands.
For some, inexplicable reason, the movies play just fine in my browser. But
I have to be opening the movie through a link. Opening them through the
browser by using "File" and "Open" uses the QuickTime player to view them.
So what I did was make a webpage that links to the movies. When I want to
watch them, I open the page, and click on the link to watch the appropriate
movie.
Just looking at the description right now, seconds after I've typed it, is
bringing on a new wave of hysterical laughter. Excuse me.

Actually I've been busy in real life.....just haven't been around long
enough to say anything in the newsgroup.

Of course, the other way to solve the problem is to spend seven hours, not
leaving the room, trying to get QuickTime working properly, find a cop-out
solution, and then, suddenly discover that the movies are now playing fine
for no particular reason.
I have no idea what I did. But they're working perfectly now.
It's 8:00 PM now. I guess I should get a late lunch...

I was checking because you said you were going to leave the newsgroup unless
a US airdate was announced while your sanity remained. Also, my system
needed the outlet. Thought I'd kill two birds with one... uh... dammit!
Memory lapses again. Maybe I should've had more than a cracker for lunch,
dinner, or whatever that was. I'm running the risk of scurvy, here. Oh, my
god! It's one in the morning! I haven't left my room for twelve hours!!!!!
Glad you haven't left the newsgroup, Brandon. The fact that you might
actually be reading this post, this window into insanity, means a lot to me.
Not as much as Famke Janssen, of course, but I might give you a Tic Tac.
