MTV cast member arrested in dispute
September 6, 2003
PACIFIC BEACH – An MTV Real World cast member was arrested earlier this
week on suspicion of scratching a Marine during a fight outside a
Pacific Beach bar, authorities said.
The reality TV show, based in Point Loma for this segment, has been
filming in the San Diego area for several weeks.
Cast member Robin Hibbard, 23, was with a camera crew when she
approached a group of Marines Tuesday night just before 11 p.m. The
Marines were trying to enter Moon Doggies on Garnet Avenue. When some of
the group asked what the camera was for, Hibbard replied that she was a
cast member of the MTV Real World television reality series, San Diego
police spokesman Bill Robinson said.
A dispute arose and Hibbard allegedly scratched the right arm of the
Marine, identified as 29-year-old Derek Porter of Chula Vista. Witnesses
told police that Hibbard also scratched Porter on the neck and had to be
pulled away by friends, Robinson said.
The Marines called police and directed them to the Pacific Beach Bar and
Grill, where the crew had gone. Officers contacted the show's producer
who was inside the establishment and asked the producer to bring Hibbard
outside. She was placed under citizen's arrest and taken to Las Colinas
Women's Detention Facility, said Robinson.
A County Jail spokesman said Hibbard was released on bail Wednesday.

SEPTEMBER 4--MTV, always on the cutting edge of reality television
programming, probably can't wait to air episodes of the next "Real
World" series, which is now filming in southern California. That's
because one of the show's female participants--a 23-year-old Florida
bartender--just got arrested for assaulting a Marine (!) while she
partied and filmed in a San Diego nightclub. Cops busted Robin Hibbard
after she allegedly punched and scratched Derek Porter, a 29-year-old
Leatherneck, during the bar altercation. Porter, who refused a police
offer of medical treatment, suffered several six-inch scratches, said
Bill Robinson, a San Diego police spokesman. Hibbard, who told officers
that she was a "Real World" cast member, was charged with misdemeanor
battery and spent about nine hours in the Las Colinas women's jail
before making bail. It is unclear what triggered the altercation between
Porter and Hibbard, who is pictured above in action at Tampa's Coyote
Ugly. Robinson, who told TSG that Hibbard and some friends came to the
bar with a camera crew and told patrons they were filming for the
popular MTV program, would only release the face page of the police
report, which you'll find below. When contacted by TSG, Porter declined
to answer questions about the incident.

I get the strangest feeling they left out part of the story. Let's review, she
meets a marine, she says she's from RW, she scratches a wound in his flesh, he
calls the cops.
Nah, that sounds right.
I got this far.

I wouldn't worry about it. We won't be watching it.
Actually, this sounds pretty good. I was even thinking about trying out for
this won.

This would have been ten times funnier if you had said "my semen." Ten
