So I've been thinking about silly, nonsensical things to do related to ReBoot
and stick up on my page 'cos for the moment I'm sick of transcribing and in the
middle of writing a story that ain't gomma be finished any time soon. And I
thinks, why not make a Geek Code for ReBoot?

What's a "Geek Code"? The basic idea of a "Geek Code" is to tell a bit about
your interests in a very small space. There are a number of codes in use now,
from the classic, very exhaustive "Geek Code" to the short-and-sweet "Disney
Afternoon Code". Each code covers a certain specific area of interest, packs a
lot of information into a tiny space, and is generally meant to be understood
by those with the same interests who also know the code. These codes are
usually appended onto a user's .sig file.

I've already made up one of these: The Space Geek Code for the Space Ghost
fandom ( http://members.aol.com/essobmcc/brakbook/sgeek.htm ). Here's what my
Space Geek code looks like, for example:

INTERRUPT TRANSMISSION
GHOST PLANET CODE V1.2: CHSg+Zo+++Mo++Br++++Lo+++Tz+Bw-/+Ch---Ra++Dn++ C2C+++
Yankovic
"Pilot" CP+++ "Crazy Lovesick Fool" "Babies" U++ L+++ W++++ Sf33 Fs Gga.us
C+++pc
RESUME TRANSMISSION

The two nonsense lines in the middle give a lot of info in a little space. It
tells how much I like ten characters, my favorite episodes, guests, and skits
in two different shows, how I participate in online fandom, and a small bit of
info about myself. If you know how the code works, it's quite easy to read.

So... whaddaya think about something like this for the ReBoot fandom? If
anyone is interested, I can whomp up one of these for ReBoot.

I like the Geek Code idea. Binary just takes up too much space.

Hexidecimal would work, of course it would be easier to assign values to
each individual episode.
Season 3 would be the easiest since it already has a code (version number)
for each episode.
Individual characters could be assigned values, such as 1 for Bob, 2 for
Dot, 16 for Hexidecimal etc.

Nice idea - however, the idea of a geek code is not to show off mathematical
prowness. It's to create a code that people in the know can *read and
interpret easily,* on sight, without having to pass it through a
binary/hex/rot13/whatever decoder.

What I mean is to use Hexidecimal substitutes for words (check previous
posting).

So.. uhm.. how do you read it? I get the words in "'s as being skits or show
titles, and I can guess that the Yankovic is for Weird Al most likely.
However.. what is the rest of it?? Please translate. Oh, and here's a little
joke for y'all.

I posted a link to the Space Geek code in the paragraph right before the code
itself. Here it is a second time.

I like the idea of a ReBoot code. There's a good one for Transformers -
which generates your code once you've filled in the values - and I'm
sure something for ReBoot would be just as great.

Yay! Geek code is back!
I thought that died out years ago!

Well, we Booters are nuts for keeping dated computer and Internet references
alive. ;)
