Well, it does seem appropriate, and we know it isn't a wildly popular
series, but it does surprise me that there isn't at least some topical
activity here ... even if to ridicle.

Yup ... dead in here, and even my DVD retailer has reduced the price
for the 2 season set.

All titles debut at $27.99 for those wise enough to pre-order at a
reduced cost, but prices bounce right back up to a street retail of
$33.19 shortly after their offical release, but since then, only Quincy
has been reduced to $22.59.

That's $5.40 less than the benefit of ordering it in advance. That's
pretty sad.

Well, the reason is obvious, but it sure explains why we haven't seen
subsequent issues.

I'm just a casual fan of the show myself, and I can be satisfied with
what I do have on disc, but I'm sure there are plenty of us out here
who would like a chance to examine seasons 3 and 4 before Universal
buries Quincy.

What Universal calls the first two seasons is actually just the first
season (1976-77).

The second season (1977-78) had 20 episodes.

I agree that Universal has a mighty peculiar way of issuing its
materials, but here's what "epguides" shows: Season one is comprised of
full length features of 90 minutes or more, while the rest are the
usual 52 minute installments, which may explain why they issued this
one the way they did. For instance, "Snake Eyes" appears as only one
episode on the disc.

The thing that really irks me is that the complete series (like many
other popular titles not available to the American marketplace) is
obtainable overseas.

@f16g2000cwb.googlegroups.com:

The length of the episode is irrelevant. It's the season the episode
was produced for. Since all the episodes were produced and broadcast in
the 1976-77 season they're all from the first season. Notice that there
was another 90 minute episode but is called second season by Universal.
Snake Eyes probably started as a 90 min episode as well but was expanded
to be the stand-alone series premiere.

When the series started the new season in Sep 1977 TV Guide magazine
(back in the days it was a real magazine) called it the second season
premiere. I still see no reason to think otherwise.

Lately epguides has been getting things wrong such as counting double-
length broadcasts (such as Snake Eyes above) as one episode instead of
two. This not only contradicts common sense it also makes the episode
count inaccurate. Family Guy has some episode count inaccuracies
because of this.
