Now that NBC is once again embracing Science Fiction TV shows (i.e. Heroes),
Journeyman eeriely reminds me of Quantum Leap.

For god sake, why not just revive the friggin' series? I can't believe that
it's already been over 14 years since QL was cancelled. It's been longer
between the time since ST: TOS was cancelled and ST: TMP.

I have not watched Journyman -- I don't watch TV anymore -- but I know
someone who is watching it and they have said the same -- that it reminds
them of Quantum Leap. However, she also said that she thinks it's going to
get cancelled.

I thought the same thing when I heard the ads for the show. I said to
myself, "How original!" They would have been better off, as you said, just
reviving Quantum Leap. But as is the case they need to modernize everything
and maybe they just hope that we don't remember the old show. They don't
realize that the original concept worked so well because of the relationship
between the two main characters. But then again this is a more eco-friendly
generation and recycling is BIG!

Well, not only that but today if you put two males on TV as best friends
half the population is going to twist it and say that Sam and Al were closet
gays or something. I've heard inklings of that before but nothing like you
hear today. Two males *CANNOT* be best friends on TV *at all*! I think
it's sad. It's the same way with females too I suppose.
Journeyman, apparently, as a female costar who is also a "leaper", for
lack of a better word, and a wife, so you see ... They filled out the cast
by casting females to really nail home that this Journeyman is *NOT* gay and
not Quantum Leap because Journeyman is with a female in his journeys, or
something. Whatever.

Be thankful they did have the decency to change the name, unlike most
of the rest of Hollyweird! At least that way we can remember "Quantum
Leap" as the show we liked rather than as some modernised thing that is
barely recognisable as having anything to do with "Quantum Leap", other
than stealing the name and basic idea.

May the show rest in peace :-)

It does remind me of Quantum Leap, and I'm sure QL provides some
inspiration for Journeyman, but I think it's too easy to consider
Journeyman a ripoff of QL. We could just as easily say that Quantum
Leap is a ripoff of Voyagers, which had a man and a boy traveling in
time fixing history. There are always going to be new shows that put a
different spin on a premise that's been done before.

I feel old now, behind reminded that QL is 14 years done. I suppose
it's a bit late to hope for its return. ;)

As for Journeyman, I've given it a chance, and it's not bad, but I'm
always a little impatient for it to be over. I don't buy into it the
way I did with QL. I tend to like more episodic shows and while QL had
a premise that involved a quest for Sam to get back home, each episode
stood on its own and the backstory was pretty much in the background.
Journeyman is somewhat episodic, but there's all the home drama that
wasn't a part of Quantum Leap.

And I'm getting really tired of the cop brother following them around
suspecting stuff. It gets old. I just don't think all the stuff
surrounding the time travel has much staying power.
