I think that a lot of things are hinting that Catherine Parker is still alive,
just being kept somewhere in the Centre or some other Centre facility and has
been "re-educated." They did this with Edna Raines and Fennigore. And since the
re-education thing has been occuring more often now, I think there's a good
chance she's still alive somewhere.

This thought had occurred to me also. Someone (sorry I cannot remember
who)said that the Pretender creators, in a chat, said it wasn't a coincidence
that MP and her mother looked so much alike. Only problem is, wouldn't
Catherine be at least in her 50's now? No way MP is a 50ish or older woman,
unless of course the Centre has discovered the fountain of youth in SL27.

what if Raines turns out to really be the good guy in all this and not the
villain...NOT!!!
I think she is alive and on the run with Margaret, Jarod's mom. They both
went underground and Emily is on her own searching for Jarod and Major
Charles.

This thought has been nagging away at me, too, since the above-mentioned
chat. I see two possibilities (there may be more, I only see 2 at the
moment). Either would seem to fit the theme of "mirage," if the point
is that MP's whole life has been a mirage:
1) MP is CP, but has been brainwashed with false memories of MP. I
think this would be very cool for the storytelling potential it would
create. It would make MP a contemporary of Syd's and Mr. Parker's--how
freaky would that be?--and would lead into a great crisis of identity
for MP, her attempts to regain her memory of life as CP, etc.). It
might also explain another motive for DP having Thomas killed (I still
suspect he was ultimately behind that order). Problems with this
theory:
a) MP is not as old as CP would be....how did they manage to halt her
aging process? Cryogenic freeze or some other medical miracle cooked up
by Dr. Raines?
b) Was there ever a Miss Parker? Because we've seen memories of MP
as a child from both MP's POV and Jarod's POV (not to mention Sydney).
If so, what happened to the real MP? If not, what did they do: Plant
false memories into CP, Jarod, AND Syd? That seems like a lot of work
to me.
c) This would raise the question for me of how does Lyle fit in? I
thought we'd seen disks revealing the births of Lyle (or at least,
another baby) and MP....
d) Would DP still be married to CP? If so, then his marriage to
Brigitte would make him a bigamist (not that he'd care, but...)
e) I don't see how the spoilers about Ethan's relationship to MP and
Jarod would fit in if MP were actually CP--UNLESS, that clip that shows
MP saying "Jarod and I share a brother??" comes before the big
revelation that MP is CP--in which case, Ethan would be her son, not her
brother.
2) MP is CP's clone, not her daughter. I'm more inclined to buy this
theory rather than the first, especially since we know the Centre has
had the ability to clone for a while now, and they have successfully
cloned Jarod. Maybe MP was their first cloning experiment? Problems
with this theory:
a) I know nothing about cloning, but would the clone be in infant form
and mature at the usual human rate? If not, we're stuck again with the
question about memories MP, Jarod, and Syd all have of MP as a little
girl.
b) Again, the video of MP's/Lyle's birth would have to be explained
away. Wait--was Faith older or younger than MP? If she was younger,
then perhaps MP IS CP's clone, and Faith was Lyle's twin???
This would certainly resolve my gripe about how they originally
had Lyle graduating in a year that would have made him much
younger than MP, but then suddenly, he was "discovered" to be
her twin. Or maybe there's yet another younger sibling who is
Lyle's twin who has yet to be introduced on the show? Hmmm.....
c) Wouldn't CP have objected to being cloned???? Even if she didn't
find out about it until after the fact, wouldn't it have been creepy for
her to raise her own clone as her daughter???
As you can see, all this speculation merely raises more questions than
it answers (which seems to be the show's specialty). And it's making my
head hurt. :-)

possible. Faith was adopted. MP cannot be a clone because the first clone
was J2 and he was half her age when he was freed. MP was a child and grew
up normally. People are not suspended in animation or frozen and thawed
later on.

question. when the gang went tot he farm last year and saw Jaord's clone,
weren't there Failed clones. I got the imppression that the Jarod clone was the
first successful clone, but maybe it was the first sucessful clone of Jaorod.

If he was fostered out,maybe the agency didn't know his birth date. I have
friends that adopted young children and don't know exactly how old the kids
are.

There is a possiblilty that she didn't know that they wee cloning her. I don't
know much about clones either, but is the writers can assume that cloning can
be achieved, then why not go one step further and say that the cloning started
with a drop of blood?
