I'm pretty new to Picket Fences. I started watching it last year on the FX
Channel. I'm just noticing in some of the episodes Kathy Baker walks with a
limp. In other episodes, she seems to walk okay. Does she normally walk with
a limp or was she injured during the taping of some the Picket Fences
episodes?

Vince, I can't remember if one of the crew members told me(via email) or if
I read this somewhere, but Kathy Baker had hip replacement surgery prior to
one of the seasons of Picket Fences. I was thinking it was before the first
season, but the blurb from People magazine that follows relates she still
had hip problems later so it was possibly prior to a later season. I know I
read they had to be careful how they shot her in certain scenes after the
surgery, either shooting her from the waist up or keeping her movements to a
minimum. She used a cane when off camera while she was on the mend.

THE THRILL OF GETTING YOUR HANDS ON one of those Emmy statuettes
must be at least as powerful as the holy water at Lourdes. ''I have a
bad hip, and I never thought I could walk up onto the stage, but I
just flew up there tonight,'' said Picket Fences' Kathy Baker, who
corraled a Best Actress in a Drama Award during the Sept. 19 ceremony
at Pasadena's Civic Auditorium.

This Emmy for her work during the first season of PF and was awarded just
before the second season began.
