Since Toon Zone did it's top five Nicktoons of the decade, I was
wondering if anyone had fond memories of the live-action programs that
premiered between '00-'09. (not counting All That, especially it's
revival) Just looking at the programs list on Wikipedia, there weren't
(IMO) a lot of good shows that premiered in the decade but unlike a
lot of people I think things have gotten better. Here's my top five:
5. True Jackson VP - I like this a bit better than The Brothers
Garcia, so that's why it's here basically. Cute, funny with a likable
main character and good supporting cast.
4. Drake and Josh - This is occaisionally laugh out loud funny and at
times showed it had great heart. Gets points off for the sociopathic
Megan and constant ridicule of Josh.
3. Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide - A throwback to Nick's
old comedic live-action days. It's basically a live-action cartoon
that's downright hilarious
2. Caitlin's Way - A show that was WAY ahead of it's time.
Nickelodeon's first drama that really didn't fit in with anything else
on the network. I wonder if this show was the first step in creating
something like TEENick (then later, TeenNick the channel). Great
performances by this cast.
1. iCarly - Yes. I think this is one of the best shows Nickelodeon has
produced in a while. You wanna make something of it? The thing is that
not only is this show funny, but the characters have enough depth that
it can effectively pull off an episode like "iQuit iCarly" that really
looked at Carly and Sam's friendship. And the constant pushing of just
what Nickelodeon can air makes it another reason why I like this show,
sometimes my mouth would drop at just what actually made it through
Standards and Practices.
So that's my list. Thoughts? Anything I missed?
