1. THIS MORNING:

Coming up later on This Morning...Over many years, the
Crosbie family of Newfoundland produced generations of fish
merchants, margarine manufacturers, and of course
politicians. The first Crosbie to take a serious run at the
Prime Minister's office was John. But now the political
years are done, and John Crosbie has recalled them in a new
book called "No Holds Barred". Also ... musician Stephen
Fearing, whose new CD is a musical departure for him. It's
called "Industrial Lullabye". Plus a report on the silenced
writers of Turkey. This Morning starts at 9:13, 9:43 in
Crosbie country, on CBC Radio One.

2. RICHARDSON'S ROUNDUP:

If you could use some laughs in your afternoon, check out
Richardson's Roundup later today. You'll hear another
episode of Madly Off in All Directions, featuring the loony
humour of Lorne Elliot. Today's "Madly Off" was recorded in
Calgary, and also includes Tim Williams, the Singing Cowboy,
and sketch comedy from Audio Toon Theatre. That's this

3. AS IT HAPPENS:

Coming up tonight on As It Happens...This is not just any
old Hallowe'en accessory. A dental student in Washington
state finds a new line of business, making top-quality

4. IDEAS:

Tonight on Ideas..."Playing at the Regent." Author Timothy
Findley visits an old theatre in the town of Picton,

with townspeople who remember vaudeville acts, touring
stage companies and live concerts at the Regent. That's

5. BETWEEN THE COVERS:

Things are coming to a head in Eric Wright's new mystery
"Buried in Stone" on Between the Covers. Mel Pickett is

questions about the case - including whose body it really

a conversation with world-renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma. The
cellist has been paying homage to the Bach cello concertos
in music, film and dance, with the help of some very

7. TAKE FIVE:

Take Five with Shelagh Rogers today for Discourse, a chance
to hear the music picks of celebrity guests. This week,
music critic William Littler highlights a recording of
Dvorak's Cello Concerto in B minor, Op.104 by Mstislav
Rostropovich, with the Berlin Philharmonic under Herbert von
Karajan. In the Concert feature, violinist Martin Beaver,
violist Nicolo Eugelmi and pianist Jamie Parker join forces
for a concert in Regina that features works by Martinu and
Brahms. All that and much more today on Take Five with

8. DISCDRIVE:

Today on DiscDrive, join host Jurgen Gothe as he samples
orchestral music by Richard Strauss and Hans Pfitzner,

9. RADIO TWO IN PERFORMANCE:

This evening on Radio Two in Performance...a concert
recorded at the Orpheum in Vancouver. Violinist Yoon Kwan
joins the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra under the direction
of Kazuyoshi Akiyama. They'll play works by Mercure,
Sibelius and Saint-Saens. That's this evening on Radio Two

10. MAN ALIVE:

Tonight on Man Alive, the Academy Award-winning "Breathing
Lessons," a look at the extraordinary life of Mark O'Brien.
For 46 years, Mark O'Brien, a poet and journalist, has
fought not only to live, but to control the life he lives.
O'Brien has spent four decades paralyzed by polio and
confined to an iron lung. This provocative film asks "What
makes a life worth living?" The story is told from O'Brien's
point of view, incorporating the vivid imagery of his poetry
and his candid, wry and often profound reflections on work,
sex, death and God. Don't miss "Breathing Lessons," tonight

11. THE HEALTH SHOW:

Coming up tonight on The Health Show...Osteoporosis. Just a
problem for women, right? Not so, according to researchers
working in the field. And because of that mis-perception,
it's much harder for a man with the condition to find the
right diagnosis. Also...Alopaecia Areata. It's a condition
that causes severe hair loss in both men and women. But a
new treatment may help those affected by it. And
finally...Karate Cancer Fighter: oncologist Dr. Brian Dingle
is a fighter in every sense of the word. He's a third-level
black belt in karate and says it's a sure-fire way to beat

Tonight on Witness, "In Search of Mother Russia's Children,"
a disturbing encounter with the street children who are
struggling to survive in the new Russia. This documentary
follows six street kids - living in a world of hunger,
fear, drugs, and prostitution. Even the Good Samaritans who
try to help are forced to admit that they can do little in
a society teetering on the edge of chaos. That's "In Search
of Mother Russia's Children," on Witness, tonight at 9:00
p.m. on CBC Television.

13. CINEMA CANADA:

Tonight on Cinema Canada..."Live Bait" a story about the
emotional and sexual awakening of 23-year-old man from a
dysfunctional background. His life takes a sudden turn when
he meets a lively and seductive artist in her late sixties.
Bruce Sweeney's debut film received the Best Canadian Film
Award at the l995 Toronto International Film Festival.
