GREAT CANADIAN SONG QUEST


Join CBC Radio 2 Drive host Rich Terfry on Monday, November 23 as he
reveals the 13 songs written and recorded for the Great Canadian Song
Quest. After weeks of nominating and voting…the chosen artists began
their quest to write and record a song reflecting locations chosen by
Canadians.

Starting at 3:30 pm (4 NT), Rich will work across the country talking
to the singer-songwriters about their experiences… and announcing the
final songs - from Tofino, British Columbia to Gros Morne National
Park, Newfoundland and Labrador.

That's Monday on CBC Radio 2 Drive.

1. THE CURRENT:


Today on The Current…host Anna Maria Tremonti talks to Afghan
politician and author Malalai Joya. In 2005 - at age 27 - she became
the youngest person elected to the new Afghan parliament. But two
years later, she was suspended from her political post for criticizing
Afghanistan's warlords. Despite several assassination attempts, Joya
continues to speak her mind. She'll be on the program this morning to
discuss her experiences, and her new book A Woman Among Warlords.

2. Q:

This morning on Q… American author Francine Prose joins host Jian
Ghomeshi to talk about her latest work Anne Frank: The Book, The Life,
The Afterlife. It looks back at the story of the young Jewish girl
who inspired millions posthumously through her diary - a compelling
account of her life in Nazi-occupied Netherlands. On today's show,
Prose explains why she credits Frank for her literary prowess…and she
reveals a complicated history behind that famous diary.

3. DISPATCHES:

This afternoon on Dispatches… host Rick Macinnes-Rae talks to longtime
international observer Joost Hiltermann about the situation in Iraq.
Hiltermann recently returned from the war-torn country and warns that
it isn't ready to survive an American pullout -- especially with the
expected fallout from the elections that are slated for January. He'll
be on the program to explain why he believes the looming departure of
U.S. forces is a "political unreality" for Iraqis.

International conflict analyst Joost Hiltermann shares his concerns
about whether Iraq can sustain a democracy… on Dispatches, with host

4. REWIND:

This week on Rewind…it was a radio program that connected rural
Canadians from across the country through a discussion on the most

from this long-running series that pledged to strengthen agricultural
communities in Canada.
