Hi Nei,
I want to thank you for posting the new Neighbours episodes.
I see you didn't leave out the closing credits of Friday's episode,
that's great, it kind of gives the show a Heartbreak High air.
Do you think you'll be able to post the episodes regurlarly ?
I don't know how long it takes you to do these but if one day you were
to be pressed for time just encode the show in a take from start to
finish and don't leave out the ad breaks, it's better than nothing.
As for the size 80 MB isn't that big and it's worth it.
If you need anything just ask (I can't do video capture, but I can do
audio ones, for example from radio1 there are great shows on that station).

Yo matt, how about updating your webhosting ASAP after it hits NGs. Doesn't
really look like nei will stop. The last time he stopped was because he had
you know, really shit "limited" DSL, but I think he's solved his problem so
now he can post to USENET regularly. However, you know what'd be cool matt?
If you could put eps on your webspace and stuff too for people who cant
access binaries on USENET and stuff (not me included). As for ad-breaks,
the last thing i've noticed that gets caps are those Computer Fair
advertisements. Anyways I reckon we should wait for nei to come on :P.

Hiya Nav,
I've been wondering whether it was worth keeping uploading the episodes
to my webspace, I only have 100MB of space, which means I can only put
one episode at a time, and since they already are on Usenet...
Are there many people who can't access binaries ? (anyone here in this
case give us a shout-out)

Matt,

First of all -- USENET is a great to distribute them for people with no
webspace at all ... However a lot of ISPs maintain REALLY POOR news servers
and retention & completion are just bloody bad. If you COULD do an episode
per day, I reckon people would appreciate it. I have advertised the link
elsewhere (myself) on erinsborough: http://www.erinsborough.co.uk/cgi-
bin/ib3/ikonboard.cgi?s=2bb1890762506e7e46da7692d3306ab9;act=ST;f=5;t=234

A lot of people don't even know what binaries are. Nei has his own reason
to cap eps and post em to USENET I guess, but why not share the wealth as
much as possible. I've noticed that a lot of other cap and do it in
realmedia to like 30 megs an episode .. (what the hell are they thinking =)
).

It's up to you though :P.

As for the latest digital caps, i've noticed it was WAY better than
analogue signals. However since digital tv in AU is quite new, I think its
also in a phase where its very experimental and sometimes untrustworthy, by
looking at some of the caps, it did freeze frames and stuff. I know its not
Nei's fault cause all his previous caps are just bloody awesome. However I
love the digital caps so much better than the analogue. The colours are so
much brighter and nice, and the picture is way sharper. I think its because
theres no "noise" with digital receiption.

Anyways, my left shoulder is getting tired so I'm gonna stop typing for
awhile...

Hi there,
if someone has a broadband connection and a bit of storage space on
their ISP server and is willing to help me upload Neighbours episodes
to http servers, please make yourself known either here or at
mfo...@hotmail.com.
I was thinking of uploading 2 or 3 episodes a week while someone else
do/does the remaining.

1 P## files will recover one rar file with FSRaid (www.fluidstudios.com) or
SmartPar or mirror. You need to have as much of the set though.

E.g.

r1 r2 p1 r4

assuming r is rar, and p is p## then p1 will repair r3. Par files are
magical :P.

Just another note. You need to really get the files right after its been
posted. If you dont, you will be out of luck. Retention on ISP newsservers
is VERY bad, and you got to be constantly looking or you will seriously
miss the files. Nei probably has a designated time when he posts the
episodes, because he caps them, encodes, then posts.

Naveen Nathan

I should've also said this, but anyways. I doubt nei will repost any
episodes or parts unless they were actually broken on all newsservers.

If you miss an episode, just get the next and move on. It's really
pointless to repost seeing as this episode goes on everyday, and I doubt
anyone is actually archiving these episodes or anything.

I work with par files on a regular bases :-)
But because I mis to much, it doesn't repair anything.
I have update the groups 4 times already and I'll keep trying
Thanks

And thanks to the one that takes the effort to capture and post it

Typical filename :-

(neighbours-27-01-03) [5/6] - "neighbours-27-01-03.part3.rar" yEnc (14/32)

First, you need a yEnc-compatible news application, or a suitable decoder
such as yProxy if using Outlook Express/Outlook. Or use GrabIt, which groups
all the segments into their respective rars.

You need to collect all (in this case 32) segments of each rar. There are 4
rars - part1.rar thru part4.rar - for each day, which are required.
Additionally, you can choose to download 2 PAR files (PAR and P01) used for
checking integrity. When you have all 4 rars, use WinRAR 3.0 to extract them
into an AVI.

Oh, and the more news accounts you can get, the better - ISP accounts are
usually notorious. I've got free accounts (50MB daily limit) with Teranews,
Bubbanews and Astraweb - these plus my ISP one mean I don't have to sign up
with a premium supplier.

Astraweb require an e-mail address and the other usual details, Bubbanews
are similar to Teranews in that they require a credit card number but this
isn't charged (unless you sign up for a paid account), it's used only for
age validation. Good retention on both, they have web page registration and
provide a news server address for use with Outlook/Grabit/etc.

that one so couldn't try it. It comes in at around 17 mins.

Désolé : le service Webnews est réservé aux seuls abonnés qui sont connectés
par Free. Bonne journée.

It's in French something like"the service from webenews is for people with
an abo that have a free connection?" Sorry I just had 2 years french at my
school, and it was the worse subject :-(

An emailaddy is no problem, a creditcard number is.
I just don't have one.
The ISP I use has a retention of a half day, the other one is even beter. So
that isn't the problem.
Knowing the right groups is the problem. Now I know where I have to look for
these episodes :-)
I'm going to visit Astraweb tomorow :-)
