Heartbreaking detail in Troy Beckwith's death revealed as Neighbours
star who played '90s villain 'Sicko Micko' passes away at 48.
Grieving fans of Neighbours star Troy Beckwith have noticed a
heartbreaking detail in a social media announcement confirming his
death aged 48 over the weekend.
Troy's Neighbours co-star Kym Valentine announced the tragic news in a
Facebook post on Saturday, revealing that he would not be having a
funeral.
'It pains me so much to have to say this. Our dear old friend Troy
Beckwith has passed away,' Valentine wrote alongside a throwback image
of the pair.
'Another member of our TV family gone way too soon. There will be no
funeral as per Troy's request. Thanks for all the memories my cheeky
mate and all my love to your friends and family,' she concluded.
It is unclear why Troy did not want a funeral. Daily Mail Australia has
reached out to family and friends friends for comment.
Valentine's post was flooded with messages from heartbroken colleagues
and friends of the late star.
Legendary casting director Jan Russ commented on Valentine's post with
condolences, writing: 'Oh no!!! Dear Troy... That is so sad…gorgeous
boy.'
Actor Brett Blewitt - who memorably played Brett Stark on the soap and
who recently returned to the revival - also shared kinds words.
'He was such a lovely person. Deeply thoughtful and empathetic. Cheeky
and playful once out of his shell. Way too soon. Love you mate,' he
wrote.
Neighbours actress Lucinda Cowden commented with a series of broken
heart emojis.
Meanwhile, Troy's good friend Selina Laine Bonica added: 'We lost a
star and the heavens gained one. Troy, you were a pain in my a** but I
loved you dearly. I'm just glad you're free from pain.'
Ricky Fleming, who starred alongside Troy on children's series Pugwall
in the late 1980s, also paid tribute to the actor in an Instagram post
this weekend, alongside images of the pair together on the show.
'RIP to my brother from another mother. From birth we were trouble
together and joined at the soul, no one will ever know the adventures
and joy we had as the mischievous two (tricky and roy) in this life,'
he wrote.
'I can honestly say there was never a dull moment when we were
together. May you be in peace and still be the infectious joy of those
who are in your presence now. Troy Beckwith love you buddy'.
No cause of death has been given at this time, and as per Valentine's
post, Ricky will not be having a funeral.
Beckwith played Michael Martin between 1991 and 1998 on Neighbours,
before going on to small roles in Blue Heelers and State Coroner.
He was known as one of Neighbours' most iconic villains with his
character branded as 'Sicko Micko'.
The actor was also known for his role as Jeremy 'Bazza' Bazlington on
popular children's series Pugwall between 1989 and 1991.
In 2017, he sparked fears after vanishing in Melbourne.
The alarm was raised after he was last seen in Cranbourne and was not
answering his phone.
The former Aussie soap star was at his home in the early hours of the
morning, but when his partner returned at 11am he had disappeared.
He drove off in a white 1999 Ford Falcon with the registration 1AJ5CQ,
with police raising concerns for his safety at the time.
In recent years, Beckwith had dropped out of the limelight, living a
quiet life in Melbourne.
