Neighbours' final outing looks set to be a spectacular one as Channel 5
have revealed the full list of returning cast members for the show's
final episode.

The Australian soap, which first aired in 1985, was spectacularly axed
in March this year following the loss of its main UK broadcast partner
Channel 5 - with the last ever episode now set to air on August 1 2022.

And with the finale looming, the broadcaster has ensured Neighbours will
go out with a bang as the likes of Harold Bishop star Ian Smith and Joel
Samuels actor Daniel MacPherson reprising their roles alongside fans
favourites Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan.

The 'massive homecoming' with see a plethora of stars from across the
decades return to Erinsborough for one last hurrah as they join forces
to celebrate the soap's almost 40 year legacy.

Alongside Kylie (Charlene Mitchell), Jason (Scott Robinson) and Ian, 80s
Neighbours making a comeback include Peter O’Brien (Shane Ramsay), Mark
Little (Joe Mangle) and Paul Keane (Des Clarke).

While joining Daniel from the 90s honour roll are Benjamin McNair (Mal
Kennedy), Melissa Bell (Lucy Robinson) and Lesley Baker (Angie
Rebecchi).

A whole host of noughties favourites are also stepping foot in Ramsay
Street once again, including Natalie Bassingthwaighte (Izzy Hoyland),
Chris Milligan (Kyle Canning) and Pippa Black (Elle Robinson).

With Morgan Baker (Callum Rebecchi), Jordan Patrick Smith (Andrew
Robinson) and James Mason (Chris Pappas) also returning.

Finally, stars from more recent years on the soap will be joining the
8,903rd episode, they include: Olympia Valance (Paige Smith), Jodi
Gordon (Elly Conway), Zoe Cramond (Amy Williams) and Kate Kendall
(Lauren Turner).

With Ben Hall (Ned Willis), Olivia Junkeer (Yashvi Rebecchi) and Zima
Anderson (Roxy Willis) completing the line-up of Neighbours alumni
returning.

Neighbours’ Executive Producer, Jason Herbison, said of the reunion:
'Whether the eighties, nineties, noughties or teens is your favourite
decade, we will be delivering something for everyone as Neighbours draws
to a close.

'Alongside the current cast we will be celebrating the most memorable
characters from across many eras, with a few surprises up our sleeve.'

Meanwhile, Ian Smith, 83, (Harold Bishop), said: 'It’s an absolute
pleasure to be back. I'm the biggest sook under the sun.

'I'm going to be shocking on the last night that Neighbours airs. It
really will be an end of an era and I am so proud to have been a part of
it.'

While Daniel MacPherson, 42, (Joel Samuels), added: 'Joining Neighbours
at age 17, little did I know, was going to kick start a career that
continues to be the adventure of a lifetime.

'To go back and play Joel one more time, was a small way to show my
enormous gratitude to cast, crew and fans of the show.'

It comes after at the beginning of this month, Neighbours legends Kylie
and Jason appeared to confirm they will be returning after more than 30
years.

There have been reports that the pair, both 53, are set to return to the
Australian soap opera as beloved on-screen couple Scott and Charlene
Robinson before the show is axed this summer.

And the stars seemed to confirm the exciting news last week as they took
to their respective Instagram pages to share snaps of what appeared to
be a Neighbours script.

Kylie's post showed the first half of the programme's title and the name
Scott, while Jason shared a snap of the latter part of the title and
Charlene's name.

Jason also tagged his former Neighbours co-star in the post, sending
fans wild as they appeared to confirm their return to the show before it
comes to an end.

Following their posts, Neighbours executive producer Jason Herbison
later said in an Instagram post: 'Scott and Charlene are the ultimate
Neighbours couple and it would not feel right to end the show without
them.

'We are thrilled that Jason and Kylie have come home to play a very
special part in our series finale.'

The experience of filming the episode was an emotional one for the pair
and also for the show's production team, he said.

Two million Australians and almost 20 million viewers in Britain tuned
in to watch Donovan's Scott Mitchell and Minogue's Charlene Robinson tie
the knot in episode 523, aired in 1987.

The wedding scene, complete with Minogue's lacy dress, coral-coloured
bridesmaids' outfits, and Donovan's mullet, became a touchstone of '80s
television in Australia.

It also launched Minogue's international career, with her first hit song
Locomotion released just weeks after it aired.

It was announced on Twitter in March that production would be ceasing on
the long-running soap due to funding issues.

They wrote: 'We are so sorry to say that after nearly 37 years and
almost 9,000 episodes broadcast we have to confirm that Neighbours will
cease production in June,' they wrote.

'Following the loss of our key broadcast partner in the UK and despite
an extensive search for alternative funding, we simply have no option
but to rest the show.

'To our amazing, loyal fans, we know this is a huge disappointment, as
it is to all of us on the team.

'We thank you for all your messages and support and promise to end the
show on an incredible high. From here on, we are celebrating
Neighbours.'

Kylie rushed to show her gratitude to the show, saying she was 'forever
grateful for the experience'.

The singer wrote: 'I’ll be forever grateful for the experience & the
friends I made on @neighbours.

'We had no idea how big the show would become and how passionately
viewers would take it to heart. Pure love! I can still hear Madge
calling … CHARLENE!!!'

Network 10 also addressed the end of the series in a statement to
Australian media, admitting it had been a 'difficult decision'.

'Today, Fremantle confirmed that Neighbours will cease production in
June, after nearly 37 years and almost 9,000 episodes,' a network
spokesperson announced.

'This difficult decision came after the search for an alternative UK
broadcast partner proved unsuccessful.'

They added that the series would 'not air on 10 Peach beyond September
2022', marking the end of its decades-long run.

'A much-loved stalwart of our program schedule for over 35 years it has
been a staple of Australian television drama, and Australian cultural
exports,' they said.

'Ramsay Street, Erinsborough, is a cul-de-sac recognised all over the
world and has been home to Scott and Charlene, Des and Daphne, Dr Karl
and Susan, Dee and Toadie, Aaron and David and many, many more
neighbours.

'Network 10 thanks the cast, crew, all the production team and Fremantle
for bringing the perfect blend of soap and sunshine to audiences in
Australia and around the world.'

Alongside Kylie and Jason, Neighbours also acted as a base for a
multitude of mega-stars, including Margot Robbie, Russell Crowe and Liam
Hemsworth.

Neighbours' last ever episode will air in Australia and the UK on
Monday, August 1.
