Hollywood Reporter web site is reporting that Louise Lombard is leaving the
NCSI: LA cast and that the female lead will be recast....

I thought she did a good job on the two parter and that she would be good
for the show...sorry to see her go, if it is true.

Mikey :)

I wonder if they keep the character, but lose the person. Seems like
they are missing out on a neat backstory with LJG if they lose the
character.

I didn't think she stood out as the authoritative figure she should have. Gibbs
has an aura that grabs your attention anytime he enters a room. She didn't have
that for the two pilot episodes, IMHO. Chris O'Donnell as Callen did, however.
Isn't she supposed to be his boss? It wouldn't do for an underling to upstage
his boss.

Maybe Catherine Bell would like to move up from LIFE's "Army Wives." She's two
years older than Lombard, but 3" taller. She has a more commanding presence. I
wouldn't even object if they changed the character name to Sarah MacKenzie. ;)

And six years or so on, it wouldn't necessarily spoil the coin flip that
ended JAG. Although I guess they would have to fill in her back story
which would. Can't see how they would just let her hang out there with
nothin' about what went on in the interim.

And I doubt they could escape the "Harm and I are getting married" angle
either. They'd have to account for him somehow. Perhaps that might meen
a few guest spots.

i'm speculating that she didn't want the grind of being part of a full
time cast since she has a son; she's capable of doing more work than
she's done IMO.

Kind of like how NCIS recasted its female lead to Kate.

The article doesn't say that the character will be recast, it only
says that the female lead will be recast, which always indicates the
actor is being recast *and* the character will be a new character
unti/unless the showrunner says specifically that the *character* is
also getting recast. So there's no indication yet if it's simply that
the character of Macy is being recast with a different actor or if the
entire concept of the female lead character is being rewritten, too.

Louise Lombard is departing the "NCIS" spinoff, from CBS TV Studios,
which is set at an NCIS division charged with apprehending dangerous and
elusive criminals. LL Cool J and Chris O'Donnell star in the ensemble
drama, on which Lombard played Clara, a former major in the military
police who became an investigator.

****The role, perceived as the female lead, will be recast.****

MY reading is that the role (of Clara) will be recast. I guess we'll
see what happens. Coulda been written a little better.

Ausiello answered a question about that in his weekly Q&A column:

Question: What's the deal with Louise Lombard's exit from NCIS: Los Angeles? I
thought she was great. Are they recasting the character, or making a new one
entirely? --Amy

Ausiello: That's TBD. My guess? They'll introduce a new character. And as far
as why Lombard got the boot, I hear Macy didn't test well with viewers.

I can understand Ausiello's reason because she definitely didn't test very well
with this viewer.

Thus spake "Mikey" <mmin...@earthlink.net> :

I really liked her on CSI, too. She has that very soft, gentle,
surprise, you're dead kind of voice and attitude.
