On the previous episode Ducky mentions his mother is in a nursing
home.

The actress who played Ducky's mother Nina Foch actually passed away
in December of 2008.

We know. We're waiting for them to acknowledge that. It seems they're
not willing to do so yet.. They must be planning some story arc for it...

Yes, but since the character was off screen and in a 'home' they can
keep the situation indefinitely up in the air. I'd suppose somebody
will get a round to it, but it made this year's "Everybody at My House
for Thanksgiving" seem al the more important to Ducky.

I wonder if they've yet done a closing card 'In Memory of...'.

Not yet. I doubt they would, until it's acknowledged in the story arc.
Probably the very episode in which they do acknowledge it. I'm just
curious as to how they'll do it.

Yes, two episodes after she died. Of course, you never see this in
repeats, although I have actually seen an "In Memory of ..." on a USA
repeat for one of the crew members.

All of the L&O shows had the "In Memory of Jerry Orbach", including
the syndicated shows that ran that day. But I think that was the
exception. How many actores win a Tony and an Oscar? And how many TV
stars get Broadway to dim the lights?

Wow, I must have missed that. Does anyone recall which ep that is? I'll
check my old broadcast DVR captures. It certainly isn't on any of the DVDs
already released.

As they did with John Spencer on The West Wing, Season 7. Martin Sheen
introduced the ep. (and the intro was kept on the DVD release of the ep). I
think this was because they had a lot of footage of John already in the can
before he died, and I gather they needed a way of explaining it. In fact, they
maintained John's opening credit throughout the entire season.

The episode where they acknowledged John's character's death was very
well done. They were able to bring back almost all of the guests that had
interaction with John's character for his memorial service (except for one
notable exception, Roger Rees as "Lord John Marbury").

I would hope that they'll acknowledge her (Nina's) passing in the story arc at
some point, and that it faciliates more insight into Ducky.

Rita Moreno has won the Tony, the Oscar, the Emmy and the Golden Globe.

Lithgow hasn't won an Oscar yet, but he's won the Screen Actor's Guild
award. He has been nominated for an Oscar though.

A little searching brought up this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_persons_who_have_won_Academy,_Emmy,_Grammy,_and_Tony_Awards

Richard Rogers was the first and has won the most awards overall. Mel Brooks
is a bit of a surprise, but it's more for his production work. And somehow
Whoopie Goldberg cheapens it. I don't consider her a particularly good
singer or actress.

Thanks. My memory isn't what it used to be. I should've researched
it before spouting off from a dark place.

He's a talented guy, anyway. I'd like to see him get something for
this season's turn on Dexter.

Umm, the "Papa Gibss" thread uses the word "hack". I'd nominate
Whoopie for that. She's a good "comic relief", but not even a
supporting.
