How many people actually remember this show? Seem like MTV always had a marathon every Friday night of the show

Surprised this doesn't have a bunch of YouTube Poops. I remember the acting/directing on this show not being very good. Really, this was a bad attempt at a Cinemax series.

Its an almost unintentionally interesting show in hindsight, despite the corny acting and obvious low budget.

First off its pretty amusing to see how many various actors got their early start there. Christina Hendricks oft cited but Max Greenfield, Brandon Routh, Katee Sackhoff, Bree Turner all had their earliest exposure on the show.

Also if we're being honest it was basically soft-soft-core porn. Not even nudity, but enough attractive young people in minimal clothing to keep young adults and teenagers without access to porn satisfied.

It was one of the more surprisingly progressive series, especially given the often dubious reputation of MTV at times. It very often featured non-stereotypical gay and lesbian characters, and gave their storylines as equal respect and treatment as episodes about straight couples. It was even nominated and won a GLAAD media award for it.

Finally, it was weird forward and open about fetishes, especially given its late 90s/early 2000s time period. Hell I remember an episode specifically about sexual furries which was about a couple reaching a compromise about the her being a "furvert" and him being into other kinks. This was years before they'd be spotlighted as freaks of the week on stuff like CSI keep in mind.

All I really remember was a cute nerdy girl tutoring an injured jock and the two of them being into each other. I remember it because I thought that nerdy girl was SO HOT!

Those whacky teens and their mischievous sexual escapades.

I remember three plots.

-A guy teaching his best friend's girlfriend how to give head
-A buch of gay dudes holding an intervention for one of their own when they caught him watching hetero porn
-A couple trying to figure out if they could still date after his mom and her dad got married.

Also, every episode seemed like porn, but without the sex.

There was a furry episode that was pretty great.

I thought it was kinda fun, though I haven't seen it in at least a decade, so lord knows how it holds up.

Might not hold up but had some future stars

That was a wild show man. Especially for a 10 year old kid like me lol.

The way they changed characters every episode forced young actors to over sell and that may be to blame for the way it came off campy or poor quality.

*looks at cast list*

In addition to those already mentioned it had Riley Finn (Marc Blucas), Gunn (J August Richards), Ellie Bartowski (Sarah Lancaster), One Tree Douche (Chad Michael Murray), Kennedy (Iyari Limon), Spencer (Jerry Trainor), Adam Brody, and Autumn Reeser.

I loved that show. I was far too classy to lower myself to real porn at that point in time.

Guilty. I think I have some VHS tapes of the first season and some of the second buried in my archive somewhere. Yeah, NOT Emmy award winning acting, but the stories were at least entertaining.

I just remember the look at that show being so different at the time. The colors/music/font of the bumpers between commercials looked so different from anything else on the network, and then instead of clearly being shot on video or film, it had that weird glow to it. Really gave the dirty vibe.

In retrospect, while the acting/direction/stories may not hold up, the way they would have three-or-o seperate stories going on per episode and then when one wrapped, the other two would continue in other episodes while a new one was introduced was a pretty complex narrative device for the network, especially when characters from older wrapped stories would appear or stories would crossover. For all the corny softcore teensploitation elements, their method of storytelling was pretty cerebral and expected a lot from their audiences.

And, of course, as has been said, this show coming on while I was a preteen was the best/worst possible time it could have aired. But how can I not watch something with Jason David Frank only five years removed from him being my hero? The guy whose toy I was buying with my mom I was now seeing making out and discussing sex.

Oh man this is a throwback! I was like 9 when that show came out, and at the time I was the only friend in my neighborhood whose parents allowed them to watch MTV. So we would have slumber parties at my house just so they could watch the forbidden channel, and especially that show.
