Many times I've heard Joel and Bots say " Welcome to Death Valley Days. The
driver is either missing or he's dead"
Does anyone know the source of this line?

Thanks

Okay, this one gets complicated, so strap in.

Back in the second season they did several episodes of a serial called "The
Phantom Creeps." In one scene, a character is looking at an empty car, and says
"The driver is either missing or he's dead" or something to that effect in a
voice that sounds very much like Ronald Reagan. And so Crow riffs, using a
Ronald Reagan voice "Welcome to Death Valley Days!" (which was a show Reagan
was on).

Now. In later episodes, when Reagan was invoked, they would say "The driver is
either missing or he's gone," even though it was only a riff on Reagan, and
nothing Reagan actually said...sort of a call back riff.

Sampo (guess it wasn't that complicated after all...)

This refers to the old TV show 'Death Valley Days'. Ronald Reagan was
the narrator for a season, and it seems to be an imitation of him that
they do when they use this reference. For info check out:
