Nope, that's incorrect. You need to get an updated copy of the FAQ. :-)
The name "Lawrence Erhardt" was Josh's own invention. He named his
character after Werner Erhardt, the founder of EST. He thought that the
name sounded evil. And he gave Dr. Erhardt the first name "Lawrence"
because he thought that it sounded pretentious.
Many people wrote to us saying that they never heard the name "Dr.
Lawrence (or Larry) Erhardt" mentioned while watching "War of the Worlds,"
so we went to the source and got the straight dope from Mr. Weinstein
himself. Imagine my surprise, after having used the name "Erhardt" online
for five years, when I found out that the origin of it as given in the FAQ
was wrong!
