The 4/10/98 issue of COMIC BUYERS GUIDE brings some distressing news, to wit:

ACCLAIM CUTS STAFF, ALL ONGOING COMIC BOOKS
Acclaim Comics has confirmed cutbacks in both staff and comics titles.
Acclaim Comics President and Publisher Fabian Nicieza told CBS all ongoing
Acclaim comic books will be discontinued in favor of one-shot, magazine-format,
and other comics-related projects that are still in development.
"For the foreseeable future, there will not be any ongoing comic books from
Acclaim," he said. "There will be a lot less product. I fully expect
comics-related products to continue from Acclaim, but they will be redefined
for a larger marketplace to take advantage of product tie-ins and our business
partnerships with the Sci-Fi Channel and other companies.
<snip>
"One casualty of the changes will be the previously announced "Mystery
Science Theater 3000" trade paperback that was to give the "MST3000" treatment
to old Gold Key comics. Nicieza said that some of that material will be made
available on the World Wide Web but will not appear in comics format until it
has had a chance to build an audience via the Internet."
Shades of the CD-ROM...
Thanks to John DiBello for alerting us to this!
