I remember seeing a show on TV (either a movie or, more likely, a half-hour or
one-hour special) in which a modern day good "witch" works as the cook in a bed
and breakfast. She develops a recipie for magic pancakes. Whenever anyone
bites into these pancakes, there would be a freeze frame and colored dots (like
those on a Wonder bread bag) would flash all over the screen. The freeze frame
then ends and the person eating the pancakes magically becomes happy.
Lots of my friends remember having seen this, but none of us can pin down what
it was. It probably would have aired sometime between 1973 and 1978... though
none of us can pin down exactly how old we were when we saw it, we each only
vaguely remember the show. It may have aired more than once.
If anyone can identify this show, please say so! I have been trying for the
last 4 years (along with a few other people) to remember what it was, but so
far every lead has gone to a dead end.
Thanks!

PS - While I'm at it, what was the series that had a regular segment
called "The Bionic Watermelon"?
Hmmm... I'm having trouble with Netcom (so what else is new?) so you may see
multiple copies of this. The show was "The Captain and Tenille Show" (the
title is close, if not exact).

Oh, mon Dieu...
Well, I can't say I ever saw it on TV, but I was forced to sit down and
watch it as part of a summer library program on at least two seperate
occasions.
Let's see how does it begin... oh, yeah, this single mother and her kid
are looking for a new home, they want something "small and cozy", so
naturally the real estate guy talks them into buying this three-story,
six-bedroom monstrosity... then it pretty much goes as you said. Man,
why didn't they show us "Manos" while they were at it??!
Then, yes, the bionic watermelon. I'm almost certain that was part of
a "Donnie & Marie" series. Who can forget the scene of the watermelon
jumping into a limo and the limo driving away, played over and over and
over and... There was that and some snotty kid who made fun of the
Osmonds and was *still* unlikeable. And "It Takes Two, Baby"...
Now that was *classic* TV, as Jack Perkins would say...
