My mom said this was a song from the brilliant advertising days of the 50's.
It was for Oscar Meyer hot dogs, and they had a "Weiner" car made to drive
around and advertise their hot dogs. It looked like a hot dog in a bun. And
the demonic juingle that went along with it was as follows:
I know a weiner man
He has a weiner stand
he sells most everything
from hot dogs on down
Some day I'll change his life
I'll be his weiner wife
Hot Dog!
I love my weiner man
(Please forgive my mother for any memory lapses)

(etc, etc)
while we're on the subject of lyrics, anyone have the lyrics to Joel's
"Pants" song? I believe they performed it during one of the Hercules films
featured in that hercules-fest a few weeks back..
(sure, i'm clueless, but i'm trying...)

Thanks, LySa! :)
There was a little bit more after the "Key change!" though. Anyone
know the rest?
TIA,
By the way, two women were driving it this year, so the "Weiner
Man" song would have to be updated or scrapped -- what a tragedy.
:)

Actually, I don't remember any of the lyrics to the song, but I _do_
remember hearing that tune in an episode of "The Muppet Show" (I think,
it was a long time ago... or perhaps it was "Sesame Street") Anyway,
there were some Swedish guys climbing a mountain, all singing this
song... the same song Joel and the 'Bots were singing after "Key
Change." Anyway, after they would complete a verse of the song, one of
the mountain climbers would fall off of the mountain. These are the
lyrics I could deduce, most likely entirely wrong.
Yodelee...
Yodelaaa...
Yodeliiiii....
Yodelaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! (At this point, one of the mountaineers falls.)
I hope this helped, but most likely, it didn't.

I did not see "Sidehackers" (although I have it on tape somewhere, so I
can check), but I do know of the song to which you refer (and it was on
the "Muppet Show", by the way). I believe the chorus was more like:
Valderee...
Valderaa...
Valderii...
Valderaa aah aah aah aah aah!
I hope this clears it up a little.

It's The Happy Wanderer!
Hmm, I guess most of youse is too young to remember that travelogue
program that had this as its theme song. In the mid-60s, it used
to run on the two-digit LA VHF stations, like KTTV. I used to love
it, but I was a junk tv addict as a kid. I can't even remember
if it was new or reruns. It was a family, Swedish or Hungarian or
something (they had accents, and they were all blond), and they'd
go places and bore you about them. In color. If I remember
correctly, they even had competition in the tv travelogue niche.
Come on, I know there are folks out there older than me (by at least
a month or so :-), doesn't anybody else remember this show?

Never saw the show (wasn't alive then), but we used to have to sing that
song in 2nd grade music class. Now *that's* deep hurting!

Well how old are you? I remember the song, but not the show. Seems
we even sang this in Girl Scouts (yep, the 60s). "A knapsack on my
back" always made me think this was Australian (I confused it with
Waltzing Matilda for some reason).
Look out for snakes.
