It claims that my message is the only one with negative feedback with regards
to the popups.
You all sure you have been bugging these guys? :) If you affirm it, then I
will throw the bullshit flag with this guy. :)

Shawn,
As the Creative Director of TNN, and the person responsible for promoting
the Network, I enjoyed reading your email. Your perception is quite keen
regarding our relationship with the WWF. As you are probably aware, most
people watch TV channels for an average of 5 minutes or less. When trying to
re-brand a network, we are faced with the daunting task of getting our
message across to our viewers. Of course there is a fine line between
branding and annoying, and I must tell you, while you may represent a silent
majority, we have not received any other negative feedback as of yet.
We are looking to alter the lower third (our term for it) in the future, to
best find that annoyance/information balance. During movies, we are
considering doing an animated bug (the logo in the lower right corner) to
promote the line-up.
The changing color of our logo shows that we have many moods, many takes on
what is pop today, and therefore many versions. The phone tone is annoying,
and we are in the process of changing it.
Just thought I'd let you know a bit more about why we do what we do, since
you took the time to write such a good letter.
Good luck!
Michael Berkman
Creative Director, TNN

I sent them one as well. IIRC the subject header was "TNN Pop Up
complaint" or something to that effect. I didn't save the message. :(
But I did get this confirmation response from them:

I haven't gotten a reply yet.
But don't be too hard on them, they did react and make changes, so they
deserve some credit for that.

Buncha bull. What a liar.
Here's the letter I wrote on 6 Feb 01:
--------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Folks,
Why are you trying to make me STOP WATCHING TNN? Why are you putting
those dreadful, annoying ads across the bottom of the screen 20 times
an hour? Do you care that it distracts me so much that I switch
channels?
Please reconsider; it's a gross error. Thank you.

No answer yet.
At least the beep is gone.

Thanks for letting us know Shawn. I forwarded the letter to a few DJ
mailinglists also, so this Michael Berkman is bound to get a lot more
letters......
