...I understand "house dick" means house detective. But where did
Chicky (ie) come from? Hawkeye refers to Frank as this in an early
episode.

Interesting query. If any one character rated as the house dick, it
certainly was Hawkeye, but I checked the definition of the word
"chicky" and found this: "used as a diminutive or pet name, especially
in calling fowls." Since it was the mission of a slovenly hypocritical
alcoholic to denigrate Frank and mock every standard he represented
(according to ashkenazi writers), it makes sense.

Therefore, "Chicky the house dick" was just another derogatory
reference that sailed right over the empty heads of average M*A*S*H
fans ... like a Lebanese transvestite on a hang glider.

"Chickie" was a slang word used mostly by teenagers when they were up
to mischief. It was the codeword uttered by the person acting as the
lookout to warn the others that the cops/parents/teachers were
approaching.

Yeah that's what I thought, the kind of thing you might hear the Dead End
Kids say.

...Thanks. I was afraid the subject line of this post would be
misinterpretted, and no one would bother to look.lol. Never knew
that, about the "chickie" part. I was born in '65. Was it a 50's or
early 60's thing?

I was guessing a 30s or 40s thing.

I thought it would have been something said by Groucho Marx to one of his brothers, especially Chico.
