This is an open question to fellow posters but also to Mr. Gelbart, which
writers for Mash were the most talented and wrote the best scripts in your
opinion?

My favorite writers were Larry Gelbart, Laurence Marks, and Jim Fritzell &
Everett Greenbaum. Gelbart and Marks wrote scrpts both solely and together,
but I notice Fritzell and Greenbaum seemed to write mostly as a team (elsig can
correct me if I'm wrong). I also liked McLean Stevenson, who had a couple of
"story by..." credits in the early years (which I guess differs slightly than
"written by....").

He told a story about that once on the Tonight Show. He has 'story by'
credit for 'The Army-Navy Game' because one day he went to Larry and/or
Gene and said, "I've got this idea for an episode. Is it any good?" They
said, "It's great, but you haven't written any dialog." Someone else wrote
the screenplay for that, and I think 'Henry in Love' from the next year
has Mac as 'Written by'.

Linda Bloodworth deserves a mention too.

My favorites: Larry Gelbart, Gene Reynolds, Alan Alda, Mike Farrell, McLean
Stevenson, Karen Hall, Dennis Koeing & Thad Munford, Jim Frizzell & Evertt
Greenbam, Mary Kaye Place & Linda Bloodworth, Burt Metcalfe. Actually, I
liked all of the writers on MASH, but there's so many names I can't remember.
