Just a interesting question that popped into my mind the other day. Who was a
more enjoyable character to watch, Rizzo or Zale? Although I realize that in
the show Rizzo was in charge of the Motor Pool and Zale was in supply. the
character of Rizzo did replace Zale as one of the regulars on the show.

Personally my vote goes for Rizzo, with his love of Pigs feet & Hogs Jowls, and
his wife Zola, as well as his pride and joy, Little Billy Bubba

GW Bailey aka Rizzo said that the role he read for was originally meant to be
played by an Italian guy from Brooklyn. Then they hired him, necessitating a
slight change in plans. The good Sgt Rizzo was now from New Orleans.

Have to go with Zale. Rizzo was an overdrawn, cartoonish character,
typical of the lousy writing of the later seasons. Not that Zale's
exactly deep, but he's a little more believable. Check out the episode
where Radar gets promoted to 2nd Lt. as a joke-- I like the way Zale
(and Klinger and Igor) clash with Radar as an officer and befriend him
when he's a corporal again. Rizzo always acted the same and never had
much of a relationship with anyone else. Another memorable Zale moment
was when he punched a stove in anger and broke his hand.

The one Rizzo episode that gave me a chuckle was when he was tossing
the fake grenade all over camp. Stupid, but funny.

Gotta go with Zale. Favorite Zale moment was during the Soldier of the
Month quiz.
Zale: I know all the state capitals. Ask me the capital of Cleveland.

One memory of Rizzo was when Potter had to redo his driving examination.
something to do with renewing his licence. Rizzo wanted to pass him
without him doing the course but potter demanded he treat him like all the
others so rizzo says: Yes, boy ....... Sir!

I fear this sequence is ruined for me by the associations I have for the
episode. It was the TVGuide plot capsulation of this episode that
convinced me M*A*S*H was no longer what it had been.
