My beloved Larry died peacefully and mercifully quickly. The only thing I
would like to add to Barry's loving announcement, is that Larry is also
survived by his daughter Kelly,.whom he loved deeply; his mother Pauline and
father Harry, as well as two brothers, Paul and Lanny, and sisters in law,1
niece and 3 nephews who all miss him nearly as much as I do.
Larry was easy to love..."It's nice to be nice to the nice" . thank you Larry
Gelbart.
I will cherish each and every day of the short 6 years we shared.
Sorrowfully,
Deborah Guydon Linville

My deepest sympathies. Larry's portrayal of Frank made me laugh a lot
and he will be missed.

Thank you so much for remembering us. Keep your friends and family close by
during this difficult time.
I suspect heaven is a bit more interesting with Larry around.

I'm not good at expressing emotions, but I'll do my best.
My thoughts are with you, Ma'am. Your husband was a wonderful man. He will
always be with us, in our cherished memories of the role he had on M*A*SH, as
well as other productions. He won't be forgotten.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Frank Burns
always got on my nerves, but at the point where he would have been
unbearable, Larry brought out his vulnerable side and made me laugh and
cry. I think he touched so many because we recognize ourselves in Frank
(like it or not...) I hope you know how many folks will miss him.
Best wishes,

R.I.P. Larry Linville
Hi -
It is such a tribute to Larry Linville's talent that he took an unlikable
character and made us feel compassion for poor Frank.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family at this difficult
time.
Regards,
Genna
Actually, one of my favorite memories of Larry came after he left the
show -- it was a commercial for an automobile battery. In a wonderful
parody of those battery commercials with the overly-cocky Robert Conrad.
there is an auto battery on Larry's shoulder and he does the "I dare you
to knock this off" bit. Suddenly LARRY is knocked out and the battery
remains in the air! Hysterical!
Again, my deepest sympathies.

Larry's portrayal of Frank displayed, if nothing else, very keen
intelligence.
Thank you Larry. We miss you.
My deepest sympathy goes out to you and your family during this tragic
loss. I admit I was too young to catch Larry on M*A*S*H(I'm only 24)
but I got the chance to watch him in reruns and I also had the chance to
see his Frank Burns-type character on the 5 part miniseries Herbie, The
Love Bug. He was great in that. He was a terrific actor and comedian
and I'm sure a wonderful husband, father, brother, son and friend.
Hopefully he's in a place where he won't have to suffer anymore and who
knows, maybe he's around Col. Blake and Sgt. Zale in a more peaceful
place. During my breaks from homework I'll pop in a Herbie The love Bug
show in dedication to one man who always made being bad so darn funny.
Sincerely,
Jenna Terranova

I heard the terrible news on CKNW (Vancouver) at 10 p.m. on Monday.
All day today, some of Larry's best moments have been running during
the various newscasts on both TV and radio up here. He, and M*A*S*H
had *many* fans all over the world.
God bless you, Larry. We'll miss you so much. Thank you for 5
wonderful years!
Deborah, my heart and prayers are with you all..

Yes .. that's exactly what I thought too. Mrs. Linville, thank you for taking
this time out to share your thoughts with us. I know this isn't an easy time
for you, but if any comfort can come from to you I hope its from the fact that
we are all grateful for the many laughs your wonderful husband gave us over the
years. All the best to you in this time, I am thinking of you.
RIP, Mr. Linville and thank you for the memories.

I was so sorry to hear of Larry's passing. He was terrific on MASH, so
good that I always found it hard to believe that he wasn't just like
Frank Burns in real life! After reading his posts on this newsgroup, I
got the impression that he was about as far away from Frank Burns as
you could get: he seemed gentle and kind, with a great sense of humour.
My deepest condolences to you and your family. This remarkable actor
will be sadly missed.
Claire D.
PS) Thank-you for taking the time to post here. I hope it is a comfort
to you and although I have never posted here before, I know this group
will always welcome you with open arms :)
And we'll welcome YOU, too, Claire, if you care to stick around and join
the gang! The only thing is though... since you're the "newest newbie",
you have to buy us M*A*S*H-ed "veterans" a round of drinks. I'll have an
Alabama Slammer, thanks. ;-)

I would also like to take this time to thank you for your very
gracious announcement in our newsgroup during this time.
Larry had to be a true gentleman in all the best meanings of the word
to play such an insufferable character yet leave him with such
humanity that we all defend Frank even after 25 plus years.
Again, our deepest sympathies to you and yours
