Obvious, but worth a mention:

Both were CBS sitcoms.

I didn't know those writers also wrote for the Griffith show. Love both
shows too.

Everett Greenbaum and Jim Fritzell, a dream writing team, did a great many
episodes of MASH. Hy Averback, a director, who directed a great many of MASH's
episodes, may or may not have directed for Griffith, I'm not sure.

I'll second that. Those two wrote some classics.

Yep, Jim Fritzell and Everette Greenbaum did! And is it any wonder that
M*A*S*H and TAGS are my two absolute, all-time, favorite shows!?

BTW, there's a book that recently came out by Neal Brower about many
episodes of The Andy Griffith Show--those written by Fritzell and Greenbaum
included. It's a great book with a lot of interesting "behind-the-scenes"
info from the writers. The name of the book is "Mayberry 101". Now if we
could have a book like that about M*A*S*H episodes...

The IMDB is missing some entries, as Averback also directed many
episodes of "F Troop." (Hmm... a show featuring two Army officers
trying to put things over on their commanding officer...)

Another "Andy Griffith/Mash" connection is this....Gomer Pyle was a
spin-off of Andy Griffith, and William Christopher spent some time in
the show "Gomer Pyle" as a member of Gomer's platoon.

And George Lindsey guest-starred as Capt Roy
Dupree from the eight-oh-six-three (it rhymes)
in the sixth season episode "Temporary Duty".
It's one of my all-time favorites.
