In the episode "Dear Dad" Hawkeye gets fed up with everyone in the
camp being so unobservent and self absorbed, so he walks nude (wearing
only a hat with his captains bars on it) through the compound, into
the mess tent, and orders lunch. Now, there were strategicly placed
objects that kept the episode PG rated, but you do see a whole lot of
hip. So much, in fact, that there's some question (in my girlfriends
mind at least) wether Alan Alda was wearing anything at all. I was
wondering if any of you out there were in a position to answer my
question athoritativly: What was Alan Alda wearing (besides the hat)
in the "naked lunch" scene of "Dear Dad"?

Thanks in advance.

Alda was wearing shorts. They are visible for a split second. Use your
pause button, if you've got the video.

Radar was totally nude in "The Sniper." He exits the shower tent, a towel
around his waist. He tries to cross the compound. The sniper's bullets
send him scurrying back into the tent. Just before he dashes back inside,
the towel drops to the ground, giving us a quick glimpse of some tush
cleavage. Use yor pause button again.

Alan Alda was wearing shorts. In fact, they are visible for a split
second. Use your Pause buttons and find the moment.

Who was totally naked was Radar in the episode entitled The Sniper. He
exits the shower tent, a towel wrapped round his midsection, and tries to
cross the compound. The sniper's bullets send him scurrying back to the
tent and just as he disappears inside, his towel drops, giving us a hint
of some tush cleavage.

Her's my question:

What was the big point of having to show Radar nude?!?! :-/

Mr. Gelbart!! Thanks for answering my questions (here, and on the thread
about the Alice Faye-inspired story).

I would have to agree with those of who wonder why viewers might have
preferred seeing Radar's rear parts to seeing Hawkeye's! Also I'd like
to add, Alan Alda is still very attractive. Of course. I can't believe
he's still so young - I remember watching "M*A*S*H" when I was a kid (I
never understood it, and my parents would turn it off).

We did not show th briefest of flashes of Radar's behind because we
thought it was what viewers were dying to see, but because we thought the
idea was funny - and that war strips you naked and reduces you to almost
infantile helplessness. It might be difficult in these days to appreciate
how such an innocent shot pushed the envelope in terms of what a network
would a seires to show or do.
