The Fletcher half of that was *awful* - you were better off just seeing
the Magnum half with it's quick clean wrap up.
They got me to watch Simon & Simon with the MPI cross over, but got me
to never watch Murder She Wrote. It didn't help that TV Guide ran an
interview with what's her name badmouthing the MPI crew as part of the
publicity.

Yeah, agreed, I thought she was incompetent for ignoring one of her
people saying there was a threat, and of course she did it 'cause of the
chip, but that doesn't render her any less incompetent. We aren't
exactly far apart here. :) But when your earpiece is saying "the
President is entering the building" and one of your Secret Service
operatives is running around screaming NO NO STOP THE PRESIDENT THE
STATUES ARE BLEEDING DANGER WILL ROBINSON and you *ignore* him ...
you're probably not doing your job right.

Lansbury? Really? What did she say?
I seem to recall that, sometime after the filming of HER ALIBI, Paulina
Porizkova (of swimsuit fame, and justifiably so) had some unflattering
things to say about Selleck, but it wasn't anything *really* damning or
damaging (more along the lines that he was immature, etc.), and it all
left me ambivalent over the whole thing.

She didn't like the crew's attitude, which I take it to be standard laid
back Hawai'ian style. She said her crew back on the mainland was all
business and discipline (which I find hysterical, I mean, it's union).
She never indicated that the MPI crew was less EFFICIENT or slower or
anything, she just didn't seem to like that they were happy, which
really made her come across as, well, a bitch. She clearly didn't want
to be there and didn't seem to think her show needed the boost.

And her background in theater and New York probably makes the difference
from Hawaii even more noticeable than if she'd spent her entire career
in Hollywood. I wonder how much of it was true and how much was someone
just stirring the pot...

Yeah, it's hard to imagine Selleck being a jerk. Still, almost anything
is possible, I suppose. But in the latter instance, at least, I suspect
that there may have been a healthy dose of Paulina the prima donna in
the mix, as well.

Sure. But whatever the source, it didn't make me want to watch MSW
anyway (not that I think I'd have been their target audience).

Also, lets face it, beautiful she was, but as an actress ... anybody
watching the dailies on that film had to know they had a bomb on their
hands, which can't have made them fond of her.
