The Simpsons were so popular that it gained its own show and became
the Hannah Montannah of animation. For those who think I'm overstating
let me ask you one question:
What other show, animated or live action has had the follwing roster
of guest stars:
1. Tony Blair when he was U.K. prime minister
2. J .K. Rowling, authoress of the harrry Potter books.
3.Jasper Johns, the abstract painer
4. Stephan Hawkings, aastro physicist
5. Thomas Pynchon , advant guarde novelest
While it is true that Tony blair was and still is somewhat of a
publicity whore the same thing can't be said of Jasper Johns or Thomas
Pynchon, a man who is so reclusive that he makes the late J. D.
Salinger look like (by comparison) ParisHilton
Some other creative enterprizes, like the movie "The Darwin Awaeds"
might lowe their standards who accomdate an over inflated reputation
such as Lawrence Ferlinghetti, The Simpsons only settle for the true
culateral icons!!!
Be honest, the art of recording was invented merely to make it
possible to have permenant copies of the annual "Treeee House of
Terror." The late Phil Ochs once said that living in the 20th centuary
and not owning a color TV was the same as lining in Elesabethiamn
times and not watching Shakespere at the Globe theatre. The freindly
folks at Fox(not to be confused with the nasty cretins at Fox News
channel) cram each episode of the Simpsons with 347 megawatts of
hipness.. That is the secret of its success. Without your daily
requirement of the Simpsons you might as well retire to Flordia.drink
prune and watch the Lawerence Welk Show!!!.
