One of the underlying themes to Lost is the notion of good vs. evil
being not as clear cut as many of us, (especially in "western culture")
seem to think. Eko even had a quote to that effect. Remember how we
met all these people before we started to see the skeletons in their
closet. Is Kate good or bad? Is Locke good or Bad? Sayid? What
about Ana-Lucia, the "cold hearted bitch" that the tailees would
probably lost without?
Along with this is the theme of karma or the theme of redemption.
Everybody's shit (karma) is coming back to them on the island and they
are having to deal with it. There appear to be three possible
outcomes. They either deal with it and make their peace (Jin and Sun),
they die (Boone and Shannon) or they still have lots of work to do
(most everybody else).

Best quote of the episode. "You gonna hit me with your Jesus stick?"

Redemption and Karma again. Good deeds are rewarded and bad deeds are
punished.

Eko's backstory was the one I was waiting for, and it was completely
different from my expectations. Fantastic and surprising.
Are we sure they didn't? It would have been more odd to find the plane
without bodies in it.

I lost track of the logistics of it all myself...

I think the Others don't need smoke. If they want to find anybody
they'll come out and get them when they damn well please.

Boone saw it and freaked out.

The plane had crashed. It was almost a given there would be a body inside.
Why bother mentioning it?

I don't think he had to mention seeing a body or bodies. A plane crashed,
of course there are bodies in it. But that doesn't concern us now. Boone
found the heroin, Sayid found the heroin. Doesn't Charlie know Locke knows
that there's heroin inside the Marys? What's he doing letting people know
he had it to begin with? The more I'm reminded of the priest dangling from
the tree, the more I think that was gold-tooth and they pulled him down and
covered his face with that big giant leaf that are so handy.
Boone didn't get much of a chance to talk about what he found in the plane
and Sayid _did_ mention the two bodies.

The one found by Boone and Locke appeared to be the same one found by Eko
and Charlie. With the two bodies on board the plane mentioned by Sayid, that
accounts for the three occupants: Eko's brother, the pilot, and Gold Tooth.

No, black smoke will attract a nutso French woman screaming "Run, Hide,
or Die!!"
