The recent hangman spoiler at http://spoilerslost.blogspot.com/
confirmed, among other things, that Jack will be a father in the alt
reality in which flight 815 lands at LAX. Based on filming snippets
and a listing at IMDb, it looks like his son will be named David.
The name David Shephard seems an obvious reference to the biblical
King David, who was a shepherd boy...
...with a rock and a slingshot.
Looks like we're back to rock-throwing references again.
Interestingly, the recent NBC series "Kings," which was a modern
retelling of the David story, featured a main character named David
Shepherd ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kings_(American_TV_series)
).
Casting call for the "Lost" role:
[TEENAGE BOY] CAUCASIAN, 12-14. Dirty blond hair. Wise beyond his
years. He's got intense, searching eyes. He's dealt with a horrible
family accident. Even at a young age, he has been put in charge of
something very important, and it weighs heavily on his shoulders.
RECURRING GUEST STAR.
Actor playing David: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1910255/
CHRISTIAN: Whatcha doin' there, kiddo?
JACK: Just throwing rocks.
CHRISTIAN: Good! Good, you get all that rock throwing out before you
get married.

"A long tradition ascribes authorship of the psalm [23] to King David,
said in the Hebrew Scriptures to have been a field shepherd himself as
a youth."

Heh. That ain't no ALT reality. That's the ONLY reality. The one
I've written for years that would eventually be shown.

That's nice, but we already had a David in the form of Hurley. Get
it? HURLey? Known as quite a warrior? Gets a GIANT rock thrown at
HIM (Chicken Shack)? Alter ego Dave?

I was wondering what significance that line would have.
But Mr. Friendly implied that, living in a glass house, Jack should
not throw stones.
The question I have is WHICH Jack will turn out to have that son.
Bearded Not-Jack ("Are you Jack?" "No.") or the other Jack? Or do
they share him?

It is amazing how often Jack and David turn up as lead roles in US TV. When
you start looking at it, its quite weird. But of course, this is Lost and it
must have some sort of hidden meaning. I know what meaning I take from it.
