Superman gives ths big farewell speech, then goes into Perry's office for
a final scene with his parents and Lois Lane, then they all 4 troop out,
he slowly leaves, with a long backward look to the tearful trio... HUH?
How's that supposed to work? Why is LOIS so upset? I mean, she's
CLARK'S fiance! So why is she crying for Superman so much???? OK,
maybe 'cause they're such good friends... but CK's PARENTS???? Why would
they be there? Why would they have a special meeting with Superman? I
mean, gee, it's not like CK _was_ Superman, right??? How dumb are the
reporters, etc. supposed to be? I know it would've been more awkward for
them (Mom, Dad and Lois) to have a separate farewell, but at least it
wuld've made sense from the trying-to-keep-the-secret-identity-secret
angle! Foo... I can't see any way that's anything else but a HUGE
mistake. Help?!?

They shoulda had McCoy in ST:GENERATIONS, just so he could
say to Picard, when Kirk dies: "He's Jim, dead!"

Once again, you've explained this problem well. I'd just like to add an
example of this type of situation for all those FOLCs who STILL might
think it was stupid of Lois to be upset.
Okay. When you go and visit a friend, say, overseas. You have the best
time of your life, cuz you hardly ever get to see this friend, right?
Now, say you have a boyfriend/girlfriend who's come with you, and your
overseas friend is the same sex as your boyfriend/girlfriend.
Now, when you leave this friend to come back to Canada/America, you'll
probably cry, but there's nothing wrong with that! That person is one of
your best friends, and you had such a great time together. Of course
you're going to be upset.
If Superman died, and still no one knew who he really was, should Lois
not cry because the two were just FRIENDS? That's what it sounds like
you're saying.
Sincerely,
Gina Blank =)

But, Gina, she didn't just cry, she cried as if heartbroken, and she was
loudly saying, "I shouldn't have let him go!" That is not an appropriate
reaction for a friend, but it's entirely appropriate for a lover you'll
never see again.
The problem is not that she felt that way, but that she vented in front of
everybody.

Stop by and set a spell at http://www.fred.net/thirteen/
But Lois broke down and cried over Clark in That Old Gang of Mine, and in
Man of Steel Bars, they were <wink wink nudge nudge> just friends then.
Heck, Lois broke down and cried about her source in the um.the...oh yeah,
The Source. She's just very emotional ;) Oh and Jimmy cried for Clark in
TOGoM, does that mean...never mind<g>
I've seen the end scene many times. Lois and the Kents are all the way to
the back of the newsroom, and everyone else is crammed forward for a good
view of the departure. Lois has had such a long history with Superman, I
think people would have been stunned if she didn't fall to pieces. Boy,
that kiss she nailed him with in front of fellow reporters and news
cameras in All Shook Up must have had tongues wagging. Now if Martha had
delivered the line, "I should never have let him go"....well ;) But if
Lois is assumed to be a good friend...ahem..a deep friend...a 'loving'
friend of Superman's then assuming someone did hear her in the noise and
confusion of the departure, they may have simply have felt she could have
convinced him to say....no word on the insentive plan ;)
Zoom (actually, I'm hoping that both Lois and Clark's carelessness in
public when he's dressed as Superman leads to a funny story next season :)
